Happy new old

Some things don't change, it seems.

Although Yule was certainly different for me this year, given that I actually celebrated it at all - let alone with someone I love - New Year was the same as it has ever been.

I don't know if he's still out with Woad, speaking to her woodwitch about Elias or simply had other, more solitary, plans. All I know is that I was left to my own devices.

So, for lack of anything better to do, I went into Bree. I'd told him that I wouldn't go too far because Steel was not here to carry me should my leg become an issue, but a woman can't be expected to sit in the domicile, bored out of her bloody skull on New Year's Eve!

I'm glad that I did, for I found that Dernwynn is back in town, which means some sensible conversation outside of the house, and also made a new acquaintance, though I did not get her name.

As soon as I began to ache, I made my slow and careful way back to a silent abode. It never feels like a home when I'm alone in it.

If he's not back by morning, I may begin to worry.
