Rahvic came home, tired yet fulfilled.. It was a good day. It was a peaceful day. The small troubles of one's life his biggest concerns nowadays. He lifted his son, spoke soft words of pride and love and played with him and his toys. He fed him as best he could for a lone parent, providing as best he can. Although today was the day, no different for others, nor for little Jamar to worry of in his young years.. But Rahvic knew, it was Wednesday at the start of spring and it was time.
He put his son to bed, took some candles, incense and the flowers he had prepared. He walks out at pure midnight, walked through the grass on his bare feet to a small stone formation he had sat up and sat himself down. He lighted the incense to have its fumes rise to the night's sky.. The four candles lit and placed around the stone formation. He smiles and then spoke,
"It is today, Mother. The day you brought me into this world, where I met my brothers, our father.."
His eyes, colored like a summer's blue sky set on the candles and when speaking, up to the stars. His hands on his knees, his legs were crossed.
"I have a son now, mother."
I am sure you must be proud. His name is Jamar and he is my red little gem."
Watch over my sister, even though she is not your own.. You would have liked her. I miss her."
"I miss you and my brothers."
"Please, help Derny and Rue, they've been kind to me and your grandson, they have cared for me.."
"Please, do not turn your back for what I did to Jafir, my brother, your son.. He lost his way, I had no choice, ask him to forgive me for I am sorry."
"Is father there with you? I can not remember his face.. I am losing the memory of yours.."
Rahvic's eyes closed and a single tear fell down like rain on a pebble.
Although there was a strange moment, a breeze that caressed his shoulders, warm in announcing spring and it makes him teary-eyed, the feeling of a hand over his shoulder. He looked up at the stars again but this time with a smile.
"Thank you, mother, I remember now."
He sat there in silence for a while as the night continued, in remembrance, feeling left behind. He stands then and looks over the hills and then his home, with his head dipped to kiss his hand and guiding it up to the sky before he turns and walks back through the grass, on the path home.
