Background

Forming of the Remnants of Numenor.

Aelthrandir was nearing the end of his border patrol of the northern Chetwood. Having chopped the wood needed to bring back to sell amongst the traders in Bree market, to maintain his woodsman façade, he set about tying the logs into a manageable bundle when he heard a hawk cry above him. Shielding his eyes from the bright sun he looked up and noted the bird circling overhead, the hawk flew lower and circled above his head again before flying south. He recognised the hawk as belonging to Andreg. Slinging the bundle of logs over his shoulder Aelthrandir looked around to check if anyone was in the surrounding area. Satisfied the summons was intended to him he began to walk back south towards the ruins where Andreg set his camp.

As Aelthrandir neared the ruins he called out his familiar greeting and dropped the pile of logs down on the floor.

“Found some good timber,” he said as he took a seat by the small fire Andreg had made in the shadow of the ruins

“She found you well enough?” Andreg asked as he tended the flames.

“I was close to returning so she caught me among the outer trees.”

They sat in silence for a time as Aelthrandir waited for Andreg to tell him of the news, he could see in the man’s face a sense of concern for what he was about to say.

Eventually Andreg spoke, “The time we have been waiting for has arrived. I surprise myself at the feelings such news awoke within me hence it came not from who I was expecting. Both proud and happy I am to be called yet, troubled and concerned for that which I leave behind.”

Aelthrandir nodded slowly, understanding the grave look on his companion. “I understand your concern, but these lands will be kept in good hands, of that I swear. Your path ahead is of greater importance now, and the honour it carries.”

“True enough, for long have we hoped this day would come to past,” Andreg turned to Aelthrandir as he confessed his concern. “I hope my resolve does not falter now in such a time of need.”

“Do not doubt yourself,” Aelthrandir said gently. “Do not allow it to cloud your heart. Long have we been prepared for this time and those preparations will see us through it.”

“Have you put thought to the plan?”

“I have. I feel we may need the aid of all the free-folk, or those who would take a stand.” Aelthrandir replied. “I will seek to find someone to represent each of the peoples so they might bring those willing to come to our call.”

         “Even the shire-folk?” asked Andreg.

“Their lands are no safer than others. Word comes of strange men encroaching on the bounds.”

“That is troubling news,” said Andreg, “My time spent here has not allowed for word to travel to me as normally it would.” Andreg paused and looked outwards of the ruins. “To have all races work together again. Such a thing has not been known for many years.”

Aelthrandir nodded his agreement, “Not something we would have thought to come in our time nor any.”

Andreg settled back into his usual manner, “Knowing the matter is in hand has aided my mind, now it seems you have the harder part.”

“If I can do my part to share the burden then I can feel at least I have done my part,” Aelthrandir said, giving a rare smile to Andreg.

“Then I shall leave it in your hands. Gather those who would heed the call and keep safe these lands in our absence.”

Aelthrandir took out his pipe, pressed in a pinch of pipeweed from his pouch, and lit it, he took a long draw before letting out the smoke in a slow stream, as he leaned back against the rough stonework of the ruins he thought about his task ahead.

(OOC Information)

The Remnants of Numenor are a lore-abiding heavy roleplaying kinship that looks to provide a place for high quality RP to our members. We welcome characters from all races and classes with a background which fits well within the world of middle-earth. We aim to have a continuous RP plotline where our kin members can bring in their characters and add to the story. We will also have events which will involve open RP to those outside the kinship, D&D style plotlines using ingame skirmishes, the opportunity to RP while levelling, and a unique D&D story for the more dedicated players. Alongside this we will assist our members with every part of the game including deeds, crafting, and help with instances and quests.

Recruitment.

If you are interested in joining us we advise you first to create a simple lore-based background for your character which fits in with the timeline of the story above. (Those wishing to roleplay as High Elves or Dunedain must meet our minimum requirements of lore understanding first). Once done you can contact us ingame for a roleplayed meeting where we can discuss ways of you to join the kinship. We will also add you to our discord channel for you to accept our kin rules and go into further detail of your character's background.
