Tales of Gondolin: Sunflowers and Pears

Another page from a small weathered book. The writing is unclear but was written precisely.

The date reads:

Year 490 F.A., Gondolin

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been many years since I met her, Aranossiel. We met met when I was still very young, no more than a small child. But I remember. I remember awkwardly stuttering and blushing in her presence. Oh I could smack myself at the memory! Not that I react very  differently these days either. Running away without so much as a 'goodbye' as she handed me pears in that market....Oh Ithilwe. What were you thinking?

But it is no matter. For I have had the pleasure of seeing her many times in the market since then.We became fast friends. And now to me, even more.

Aranossiel is perhaps the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Her looks could rival those of the Valar I am sure of it. She has bright blue, laughing eyes, which crinkle up at the sides when she is happy. A long beautiful mane of golden hair rests upon her head. She always wears it pulled back into a braid, practical, but lovely none the less. She bears the grace of one much older than her. And she is wise. Wiser than I could ever hope to be.

My heart quickens its pace the more I think about her and her charms. I have never given much thought to the idea of love and courting. I seem to be much to awkward to properly court a lady. But perhaps it is time I act my age? Aranossiel is lovely and she would make a perfect other half. I can only hope that she feels even the slightest bit of care towards me.

Perhaps I will ask her to join me on a walk tomorrow eve through the gardens....that is if I do not stutter and run away again.

I wonder often if this is really where my life is intended to go? To become a scholar? To be wedded to one so lovely as Aranossiel? Only time can answer these questions. But I truly hope that the answer is 'yes'.
