Quietude

Found:

I made camp at Nen Harn yesterday. It's been a while since I last sat here, watching the lake. It's peaceful, pretty.

Ry found me there, as he always does. Something about the way Steel's front hooves dig into the ground sometimes, and my boot prints being deeper than most women's due to my height, but too slender still to belong to a man. I've no skill for tracking, so I'll little choice but to believe this is the case.

Our talk was... subdued. Calm and quiet, with very little in the way of our usual ribald jokes and teasing. Indeed, rather than pull me over to him as he usually would, he seemed content to lean against me for a change. A ploy, perhaps, to satisfy the dominant streak in me? Or simply a sign of increased trust on his part? Maybe he was just tired.

Although the subject matter wasn't always comfortable, there was a distinct lack of defensiveness or hostility from either one of us. It was, at all times, courteous and I learned a lot.

Not enough, certainly not all, but a lot.

His reason for wishing to accompany me to Evendim is an acceptable one, though I did issue a caution should he wish to bring the girls along. I've naught against the notion of them joining us, I believe it may even do them some good - Clothillde in particular had an interest in seeing that land - but I do have some concern that their more gentle natures would see them find trouble in a place such as Ost Forod. Goodness knows the people there are far from kind.

I feel like some form of understanding has been reached, though I am hesitant to put a name to it as of yet. This is not the time to be jumping off a cliff just to see how far down the bottom is.

Better instead to utilise caution.
