A story from the past
Why would such dream shatter the peace of my sleep when my mind was not on the Greenwood war for long? What figth will my uncle face?
Many years passed already since Valdras, in this days the head of the small house Elenol, returned to figth in the war in Greenwood the Great. I have seen my uncle rarely in this time, in the few occasions he returned to Eriador and I was never worried on his fate for his arm is strong and his mastery with the swords great and won in many years. Silent and rather stern, as he always was, he did not seem particulary worried on the fate of the war. With losses indeed but the elves had taken many strongholds of the ennemy and kept it far from their lands.
And yet of late I see him in my dreams wielding a sword the story of he told me many years ago. A sword that was always only a reminder of branch of our family that is no more, set on a wall of his house in Duillond.
It was long time ago, when the Orcs started to plague Greenwood when that sword was last used. It was when a young elf of the house lost all his brothers in one day in a terrible and unexpected attack on the elven settlements. He found only death at his return and enough signs of the tribe of orcs guilty of the killing. He gathered the swords of his dead brother and melted them and with all his anger and all his craft has forged them into a grandsword like few have seen the ligth of that realm.
He swore then on this sword he will end all that tribe in revenge and gladly pay his revenge with his life. For years he hunted them. Many he slayed. And as an answer to his oath this quest has claimed his life for he died in one of this figths and his companions have brought his body and his sword to those of his family. But one thing he did not know: that the leader of the slaughters that killed his brothers was not among his kin when he hunted them in revenge. For the beast was sent far away to lead other atrocities. So he died his oath unfulfilled.
When you look at it for long the sword seems to gleam with a restless and disturbing shine and many said that the soul of the revenger will only find his peace when the sword will finish its sworn mission and take the lives of the rest of the bloodkin of the slaughterers.
Why do I see in my dream Valdras wielding this sword in front of a huge brute of a Orc like I have never seen? He seems confident and the sword the rigth mach for the brute, unlike the fast and thin two blades he preferes. I cannot see the end of the figth though. Should I send the sword to him along with the tale of my dream?
