Lonfrik recently - and hurriedly - vacated his room at the Hammer & Harp Inn. Among the clutter of various forgotten odds and ends lies a sheet of paper, clearly a letter from someone. Perhaps in an attempt at secrecy, the message is written in Khuzdul but crudely converted to the Elvish script.
Cousin Lonfrik,
I hope this message finds you. I must say that the Winter so far has been difficult. We have holed up in an old ruin on the Ice Bay, but food is scarce and warmth scarcer. It is only by the kindness (or ignorance) of the Lossoth of Pynti-Peldot that we have survived.
But that is not why I write to you so urgently. I fear that we have been discovered by Zigilgund. Once I am certain that they know of us I will meet with them in order to convince them of our peaceful intentions. But it seems that they have had recently troubles with other Dourhands, Skorgrim's sort. I do not believe that they care to distinguish between we Dourhands, looking only for a new life, and those Dourhands who have caused so many troubles.
I beg you come quickly. We have few options remaining. Bring whatever you believe may aid us, and stay warm. Do not let anyone see this letter!
- Drivi D
Clearly the last sentence's warning has been forgotten.
