Liffey's Drabbles - Entry 16

After three weeks of travel, Fenley and I arrived safely and in one piece. I'd never been to this land, never set a foot this far outside of Bree-land, and it's everything I expected and nothing I expected at the same time. The first Enedwaith-dwellers we encountered seem to be a Hobbit-like race, just as short with the same welcoming warmth as the Hobbits of the Shire. After exchanging a bit of labor for a good meal, Fenley and I made camp near a lake above the village.

Traveling with Fenley is like traveling with a Historian who seems to know the history of everything. He told me what he knew of the ruins we encountered and who may have built them and what purpose they may have had. Between Bree-land and Enedwaith we traveled over a desolate land that he said was called Minhiriath. We passed by a city that he said was called Tharbad, which had been flooded ages ago. Life in Minhiriath was scarce, and we relied on dry rations more than I expected us to. We didn't see another traveler the entire time we passed through it.

I guess bad things linger from the plague that Fenley told me swept over the land. I haven't decided where next we'll go, but I was thinking of traveling close to the border of Dunland. I am only afraid that we will be mistaken for hostile Rohirrim, and I do not want to put Fenley in any danger because of my adventurous whims.
