How do you attract a Prince? (Part 1)

Adiwen walked fast through the great hall of Edoras; it was quiet today and her footsteps echoed in it. The Prince and the King had gone hunting and of course, the whole Palace had gone with them.

She was in an agitated mood as she considered if she had made a mistake. She probably had to go with them. If she was to be a Princess and future Queen of these lands, she had to try harder to ensnare the Prince. At least, that cocky, hair headed, high pitched laughing woman from Aldburg believed she could join the men on their hunting trip and she had done so.

Her parents would not be very happy if this meant that she had failed on her quest.

"Oh dear, you look upset", Adiwen turned around to see lady Theodwyn calling out to her. "What happened? Did someome kill your horse?".

Adiwen scoffed. "As if they would dare!"

"Who would dare, indeed! You are not a sweetheart to push around..." The lady of Aldburg was a few years older than Adiwen. The two of them had come to be good friends the last years before the Princess' marriage. If Adiwen had a choice, she would have joined her friend's new household. "Let us have a cup of mead later tonight, after I have put Eomer to bed".

"Or two or three cups of mead". She murmured, causing Theodwyn to laugh.

"Alright, now I will look for more writing paper, before my little one wakes up from his nap. I will see you later tonight".

Adiwen did not register the Princess leaving her alone once more. An idea had just occurred to her. It was small and flimsy at the start, not well formed. But as the details crystallized in her head, she could feel some of the worry leaving her body. At least now she had a plan and with brisk footsteps went to put it into motion.
