Destination and Delivery

The night passed quickly for Dru. She managed to catch some sleep...or rather, that thin veil of sleep one has when their ears are searching for the slightest anomaly.

The morning began much as usual, with the two men bickering over who would get to eat the remaining leftover sausage from breakfast. They played some silly card game to see who would win the right to the sausage, and made quite the show while doing so.

As they began to speak of splitting paths, Dru listened and opened her eyes, waiting and pondering whether or not to reveal all that she knew. It seemed Davamir was attempting to convince Furley to join them for the entirety of their journey to Gondor. That, she felt, would be something Furley would regret to some extent later.

"What's your thought then, Lady?" Furley asked, surprising her. Her eyes were not visible. “You haven’t touched your breakfast yet, and the road forks soon. What would you do, if you were me, eh?"

Dru sat up immediately, since laying there was now pointless. It must have been quicker than she intended, as Davamir fumbled and dropped the remaining piece of sausage.

He pouted for a bit, then chuckled. "There's Dru for you! Listening easily while fooling us all she's sleeping like a kitten!"

Furley didn't laugh, he just looked at her expectantly as he awaited her answer.

She swallowed hard, trying to sort through the previous night's memories and make sense of everything again.

"You ought to think through each side of your decision. You began this journey with a little of what you wanted to find planned within, but not more than that. You ought to think on what you wish to see happen through your decisions here, and where you are willing to go for it."

Dru hesitated a moment before reaching into her pocket and pulling out a wrinkled piece of parchment. She handed it to Furley, not looking him quite in the eye. "I...this note was delivered...recently. I believe you should see it before asking my further counsel."

She bit the inside of her cheek as she waited for the anger which would surely come.
