Under the shadows of the rocky mountain
The Elves strode one by one, their shadows dark and long.
The setting Sun, marking the time of the Elves
Dyed their hair red and souls to rekindle.
In the silent hours of the night
They would shiver with a growl and howl
Coming from the dells
Under the snowy hills of the Coldfells.
They kept riding and striding
Under boughs and under clouds
Golden autumn blessed their journey
On the unhallowed ground of the Trollfells.
The night was long and foreboding
Only a few stars were seen
Much was held under the veil of the storm
While the growls and groans made their way
Out of the Unseen.
In the eerie hours of Foredawn
The Elves found at last
The dwelling of the trolls
A foul stench was in the air.
They waited for the moment
To make their nets and
Lure the monsters out of their caves.
