Dear Diary,
Exciting news!
After nearly a month afterthey were expected to clear the mountain passes are now passable. I have been asked to join a party of Elves that are searching for the source of the Great River. They call the river Anduin and it seems to have a spiritual meaning to them. I didnt ask why, maybe I will tomorrow.
The leader of the party Meneldir has told me we are to find where the Greylin and the Langwell rivers start.
They told me it is a dangerous journey even for those that know the mountains. The weather can change in minutes turning a bright sunny day into a snowstorm or a snowstorm into bright sunshine.
What should I pack? I have been told Harmony will be safely stabled here in Imladris and that we will be taking tame goats as pack animals instead.
Goats!
Who would have thought it? I've seen the goats, they were brought into the valley by a small band of Dwarves. The goats are huge as big as ponies. They deffinately arent the beasts we have in The Shire for milking.
I am to be introduced to my goat tomorrow. Having heard the sound coming from the stables I think it will be a noisy joirny journey.
I have never seen the Elves so busy, there is a hussle and bustle that doesn't fit with the valley. So many jobs to be done before we set off.
The passes do not remain open for long, so the Elves have decided to leave as soon as they can.
I hope it isn't too soon, I haven't got much to pack but I haven't decided what I will take or leave yet.
I know Harmony will miss me and much as I will miss her. I have been riding her daily outside the valley.
She's a clever one, never puts a foot wrong. She is also protective. I had stopped to have luncheon and she chased away a wild boar that had come to investigate. Can you believe it!
She chased it off then came trotting over and gently nosed me. I'm sure she was telling me it was safe again. She gained herself an apple for that. She was obviously scared of the boar because she was still shaking when I gave her the apple.
When we got back to the stables I gave the stablehand a silver piece and asked him to fetch some fresh greens for Harmony. I spent the next hour grooming her coat, I paid particular attention to wer where she likes to be stroked and patted. When I had finished she shone.
I will miss her.
