Dear Diary,
I need not have worried, the Green Dragon Friday was on as usual. So many new faces amid the ones I know.
I was almost overwhelmed by the normality of it all. The music, song and dancing, the riddles and jokes and poems. The chatter about food and gossip about neighbours. The everyday background to Shire life.
How I had missed it all, I almost broke down in tears at when Lina sang Home, Sweet Home.
At the end of the evening I travelled with a group of Hobbits heading towards Songburrow. I wasn't really thinking, I was enjoying the company. When I got to Songburrow I realised I hadn't anywhere to stay.
So here I am sat in Songburrow Hall's mushroom tent. I'm used to sleeping rough, and as far as rough goes this is probably the softest ground I will ever sleep on, and warm too.
Harmony and Floppet are grazing on the village green. I hope they don't wander too far.
Tomorrow I will speak with Rowana and explain. I hope I can stay at the Hall at least until the sale of the early tater crop.
I still have to visit the Thain too.
