Barasarn’s renown on the field of battle had reached even the song-halls of Rohan, for it was more than once that he defended the Anduin against their common foes: many Wainriders and Uruks of Mordor fell upon his shield like water against rock. Thus in recognition of his doughtiness the Eorlingas named him Stonburg, in the fashion of their own tongue.
