Bloodline, Heritage and Origin:
Dorvairse descended from a Númenórean Bloodline that dates back all the way to the late second age. The first of his household, Ordthric, a commander within King Ar-Pharazôn's Army, was a very high prestigious member within the Númenórean Order and Naval Fleet. He commanded his own Naval flank and battalion of elite ground lancers which was given to him by the King.
(The following information was taken from Tolkien Gateway to use as a necessary description of where and when the Ordthrain Household began)
Unforunately due to the influence of Sauron, the King was manipulated thus bringing the downfall of the mighty rein of Númenór. In Accordance to the events which took place, Sauron's influence over the King had a profound effect which led to Ar-Pharazôn attempting to reach Valinor, yet before his time, it was forbidden to Men to travel westward to reach the Undying Lands. Due to his arrogance, Pharazôn's attempt to reach Valinor and his previous preparations for war with the Eldar raised the anger of Manwë who sent his eagle-shaped storm clouds to Númenor. Lightning struck the land, including the temple of Melkor which was built there due to Sauron's Influence, there human sacrifices were made. Because Sauron himself stood in their path and was not hurt by them, the Númenóreans were deceived even more into thinking he was their rightful god.
Ar-Pharazôn sailed at the head of his fleet known as the Great Armament, led by the flagship Alcarondas, set course towards Valinor and reached Tol Eressëa. His pride fooled him into thinking that the inhabitants of Aman would not stand in his way, because the land was quiet and peaceful, and thus he set camp near the Túna hill. But Manwë, the Elder King, was aware of what transpired, and the Valar then laid down the Guardianship of Arda. Ilúvatar responded by catastrophically changing the shape of Arda. The Númenóreans present in Valinor were buried under the hills which fell upon them, and on the great island, fire was erupted from the top of Meneltarma. The land crumbled into pieces and a great wave swept over it and buried the island at the bottom of the sea. Its people were taken by the waters, and this tragedy brought an end to the Númenórean realm, in S.A. 3319.
(The following now is my own story and not taken from Tolkien Gateway)
Ordthric had joined Elendil and his sons, for he knew of their knowledge of their forsight when it came to a possible downfall of Númenór. Ordthric escaped with his wife and family before the storm hit the island, As part of a fleet of nine ships heading eastward to Middle Earth. As he and the remnant of Númenór arrived in Middle Earth, the first cities were constructed and there he forged the first crest of his family and all the heirlooms of House Ordthrain. Ordthric was slain later on the fields before Barad-dúr during the battle of the last alliance of men and elves. Command of flanks and footman was given to his descendants.
Introduction to Dorvairse' Life:
Dorvairse was born in the year TA 2937. He Hails from Eastern Gondor in the land of Minas Tirith and Osgiliath. He was the elder child of Ordmir and Gilrael. His younger brother, Berethor was seven years younger than him. Dorvairse was a valiant warrior known in Gondor for his greatness, having already achieved great merit in Gondor prior to the foundation of the Sworn Brotherhood.
Personality:
Dorvairse was Headstrong, Brave and Intelligent. He was also the typical image of his father, Ordmir. He was always respectful and rarely forgot his manners or his duty to the people whom he would serve or protect. He was often hot-tempered as a child. In his years as a young man at the age of seventeen, he was sly and cold hearted at times and showed great pride in his Heritage as a Gondorian and descendant of the Great Captains of Minas Tirith.
Biography/Backround:
Appearance:
Dorvairse often is seen in a dark steel hauberk with a steel helmet, an etched design upon its peak or a dark black and grey hauberk with an ancient Númenórean Helmet and shoulder furs.
His sword, gifted by his father through his heritage was like its owner: big, broad and powerful. To use it single-handed required someone with great strength in the arm and wrist, both of which this skilled warrior had in abundance. It is a hand and a half sword which allowed Dorvairse to wield it with one hand, allowing him to use his shield and as a two handed sword. The blade was over three inches across at its widest point. It had a flattened diamond shape in section with an equally wide fuller in order to keep the weight down. It was sharpened on both edges and tapered actually at the tip, making it equally effective for slashing against lightly armoured opponents. The Guard was the same shape as that of a Gondorian Captain’s, as well as any Gondorian-Make swords. The handgrip was wide like the blade, matched to Dorvairse’s hand, and the pommel was an elegant and yet simple piece of steel, again large to counterbalance the weight of the blade.
The Scabbard was wood covered in leather that had been decorated with crisscrossing strips of leather down its length together with a steel locket. It attached directly to the belt that had been stamped with a delicate leaf pattern repeatedly along its length, this belt was a gift from his wife, Haschirgael of Edhellond.
Dorvairse also carried a dagger that was a little brother to his sword, also given to him by his father. Matching its blade shape and pommel design of the sword. The only difference was that it was decorated with bronze details; the handgrip was wrapped in fine bronze instead of leather, the pommel was gilded with bronze and the guard was formed from a single piece of shaped bronze.
Dorvairse was always seen carrying with him a broad shield. This was given to him by his father aswell. The shield was circular, unique by its design, and easily recognizable. The steel frame has been coloured different colours; Red and Blue lines encircling around the shield many times. In the middle was a steel boss that riveted to the back of the shield; fixed into the boss was a handle made of steel that was edged with bronze rings. Around the edges were engraved wings and the crest of his family’s noble heritage and house. When not using his shield, Dorvairse carried the shield over his shoulder with a finely tooled leather gauge that was riveted to the boss and the steel rim that ran around the edge of the shield, fastened by a number of rivets.
The Shield was a solid piece of fine Gondorian craftsmanship that could be wielded quickly and effectively; the curved, circular shield had no points that an enemy could snatch onto. When attacked, the blade would slide across and past the shield, when this happened, the attacker’s forward movement unbalanced, allowing Dorvairse to bring his sword down on the attacker’s exposed arm and neck. If the blow was light enough, the upraised shield would arrest the swing of the blow and Dorvairse could thrust under the foe’s shield and into his stomach.
Dorvairse’s Armour was the standard amour of a Gondorian Swan Knight when fully clad for battle. When travelling alone or with his friends or kindred, Dorvairse was more lightly armoured, wearing only hauberk, leather and a well-made pair of Gondor vambraces.
Summary of Childhood:
When Dorvairse was the age of fourteen, his younger brother, Berethor was killed by an unexpected ambush of easterlings within the hill country southward of Minas Tirith and Osgiliath, the place of his birth. Dorvairse being somewhat trained in the arts of the sword, fought against the attackers and managed to slay them all, being only about nine of them. Dorvairse lost his horse during the ambushed for it was shot by arrows. Being limited to foot, he had to carry his dead brother back home to Minas Tirith. It took him five days without food to reach Osgiliath where they took him by horse to the white city and buried Berethor.
Both of his parents were renowned in Gondor. Ordmir was a Swan Knight at his early years and transferred to Minas Tirith as one of the captains of the citadel guard for the Steward, like his ancestors were. Ordmir’s ancestors went all the way back to those of the era of Steward Cirion, also the era of Eorl the Young, being as Captains of the Steward. His family linage was close to the Stewards of Gondor. Ordmir was heavily trained and among the most elite of warriors in Gondor, and when Dorvairse came to the age of twelve, he began to teach his son everything he knew about being a warrior of Gondor and his family heritage.
Upon reaching age of sixteen, Ordmir gave Dorvairse the sword, shield and dagger which he still carries presently.
Dorvairse’s mother, Gilrael, was an artisan and scholar in the white city. To Dorvairse, she was everything a mother could be; Kind, Generous, Faithful, Compassionate, Artistic, Hard Working, and among many other great traits. Ordmir and Gilrael are both still alive within the safety of the walls of Minas Tirith presently.
Later Years:
As Dorvairse came to the age of twenty, he entered into the citadel guard of the white tower through his father, where he became renowned like his father by his brave heart and courage and his skill with a sword and shield. Dorvairse through his days as a Gondorian Guard, he became a Captain of the Guard at both Dol Amroth and Pelargir. He served as a Guard of the Citadel for a short time in the white tower. Dorvairse travelled quite frequently among the lands of Gondor. After some years, Denethor the Steward of Gondor and the Citadel Guard Commander granted Dorvairse men to command which where began his time as a commander in the Gondor ranks.
Recent to Present:
As the years passed by and honors bestowed upon him, he travelled once more to the Havens of Belfalas, making his path to Dol Amroth. On his way he met an elf whom he fell in love with at first sight. She was a remnant of those whom dwelled in an abandon port twenty-five miles eastward from Dol Amroth, named Edhellond.
Edhellond was first founded before the end of the first age by elven remants of Doriath. After Sauron’s war on the elves in the mid-second age and terrible devastation it caused, the port of Edhellond became a place where elves built ships to sail into the undying lands. The elf Dorvairse met was named Haschirgael, an elf a little more than two-thousand seven hundred years old. Haschirgael was one of the elves dwelling underground in a cavern built by the remnant, they all had fled there since the beginning attacks by the presently invading corsair fleets.
Dorvairse fell in love with her and spent large amounts of time with her. They eventually after some years of knowing each other, became wed. Haschirgael and Dorvairse now reside in Eriador presently.
The Birth Of The Brotherhood:
Dorvairse in his heart hated evil and injustice. He and his wife during the years in living in Gondor, they made friends such as Theodvan, whom was a Thane of the Eastmarch and also his daughter Theawynn. Also befriending; Korgaano, Jarlor and Aaverie, Ranesora and his son Jorgon, and many others in which eventually all formed together under Dorvairse and Haschirgael to form what is now thriving within Eriador, The Sworn Brotherhood. They took and oath to meet the needs of the many whom would call for aid or be in distress.
Living Under Virtues of Nobility:
Dorvairse lives his life under the conduct of the seven knightly virtues: Courage, Justice, Mercy, Generosity, Faith, Nobility and Hope. Fully intending to spread such virtues of life to the lands other then Gondor.
The Birth Of His First-Born Son:
On T.A. 2989, Burwod, the biological son of Dorvairse and Haschirgael was born. He had the features of man and elf. Taking to his mother's pointed ears, long hair and eye color, and some of his father's features which included hair color and facial hair in his later life. Also he acquired the characteristics of height like his father and broad body.
Due to being the child of Númenórean Blood, Burwod would have gained the life expectancy of one. Average life expectacy of one from such bloodline could live from 100 to 320.
Due to being the child of an elf, he also would have acquired the features such as pointed ears like elves. And the natural born skill in swiftness and agility of an elf.
Dorvairse and Haschirgael raised him within Imladris for a time before moving westward when he reached the age of sixteen to Falathlorn where Haschirgael sponsered Dorvairse to purchase property there. As he grew up, Dorvairse taught him everything he knew about combat, the arts of the shield and sword. Using the two-handed weapons such as Long Swords, Axes and Hammers. He also versed him on ranged bows and crossbows. He gave most all the knowledge of combat to his son, the arts in which his own father taught him and the training within Minas Tirith.
Haschirgael when burwod was not with his father, taught him in the elven arts of craftsmanship, art, meditation, and how to walk light and swift like most elves with being sure-footed and well-balanced maneuvers. She would take him to forests on occasion and teach him how to move within the forest and use the trees as platforms in travel.
