Born and raised in Bree and being an only child to mother Rianne and father Caleb, Laiani grew up a shy and sheltered girl spending most of her time in the house helping her mother. Her only friend was Matteney, the clumsy son of her fathers good friend, whom she saw as almost a brother.

It was only until the age of eighteen, her father took her with him on a hunt and Laiani found her ambition. From that time she grew extremely close to her father and he was hardly ever seen without her by his side.

By the age of 20, Laiani's father grew very ill and the family had to rely on her to bring home the food. After a long hunt she found herself spending most of her evenings in the Prancing Pony, doing this she met many people on her travels and soon made friends, aswell as enemies and she was often followed or threatened. One being a sneaky man by the name of Shorey who had followed her on more than a few occasions. After some time they became good friends and soon became alot closer. Shorey was always looking for trouble and particularly enjoyed annoying the likes of Conrar and his friend Faustino. Walking home one evening Laiani was knocked unconscious and kidnapped by two masked figures. Her hair was hacked off and her neck cut and she was left tied to a tree on the outskirts of Bree. Note was sent to Shorey and he untied her from the tree but failed to see the message that was being sent and went looking for revenge.

Laiani hit rock bottom when her father passed away, wanting to punish him for leaving her she found herself drinking and on the search for trouble. Venturing out into the wilderness alone, she was often attacked and cornered by brigands. A few months passing, on returning to Bree, she was approached by a man named Cyfier someone she had briefly met before and not on pleasant terms. No longer caring for her safety she found herself doing occasionally work for him. After some time he introduced her to his house (The House of Midnight), Faustino being one of the other officers. Wanting to remain part of the house Laiani did her best to stay clear of Faustino, though he had other plans and did his best to show her his softer side. Seeing alot of her father's traits in him, she soon warmed to him and he soon took her under his wing. Laiani enjoyed her new view on life and was no longer the shy, innocent girl she once was. She was often given work, spying on folk and reporting information back to the house. One of her assignments was to gather information on a young man named Zaeh, her task was to befriend him and source the information through trust. Seeing his role as a 'blade for hire' a benefit for her house, she invites him to her house to meet the officers. Only they were not as inviting to her new friend and beat him for information. After no vital information was found Zaeh was invited to join the house and him and Laiani soon became closer.

After an ongoing war between The House of Midnight and The Sunset Knights, things came to blow when one of the members were followed and their house discovered. Many were injured that night and with her role in protecting her house Laiani found the blood of a man named Firui on her hands. Unsure of how she should be feeling after her act, she shut herself off from everyone. That is until she was approached by Shorey one day in the Mess Hall, after explaining everything to him, he was cold with her and walked away. Realising the error in her ways, she did everything in her power to gain his trust again, though remained a member of her house.
