| Outward Appearance | Amy is kind, generous and loving, but withdrawn towards men. Sometimes she puts on this tough, rather bitchy role. But those who get to know her find out she is nothing like that in private. She speaks with a youthful voice, appropriate for a young woman of her age. She has a nasty habit of smoking and she likes a pint now and then. She doesn't have the refined manners of a fine lady, a result of her father raising her and the time spent among the watchers in her teens. |

History:
Amuel (those who are close to her call her Amy) doesn't remember much from her time in Dale, where she was born. At an age of 4 her parents decided to move to Bree. Its is unknown to Amuel why they would undertake such a dangerous journey through Mirkwood with a child. But no doubt her father, being an accomplished hunter, believed he could protect his family. And he did, they arrived safely in Bree. Her parents purchased a small house just outside Bree and Amuel was very happy there. In addition to her household chores, her mother used to paint portraits for a few copper coins. A fair amount of those paintings still hang in various homes in Bree. Being a hunter by trade, her father provided for his family by selling skins and trophies at the market place. When not on one of his numerous hunting trips he would teach little Amy how to use a bow. As she grew she needed bigger bows and she could burst with pride as her father commended her progress. Those where happy years for Amuel.
When she was 10 her mother came down with a serious illness. Her father was absent and little Amy had to run in to Bree to fetch the healer. He couldn't do much as the illness was unknown to him. She died shortly after with little Amy by her side. As there was no one to care for Amy at the time, the Watchers of Bree took her in while her mother was buried in the old Bree cemetery. Amy spent about 2 months in Bree Jail with the watchers playing with her and trying to keep her spirit up. She was even allowed to practice the bow with them. One day her father turned up at the the Jail, pale as a ghost and with the expression of a broken man. They fell into each others arms and he promised never to leave Amuel alone again. Now began the meager years.
While caring for Amuel he could only make day trips outside Bree in hope to spot a prey. He eventually sold the house to get means to care for Amy. At least that was what he told Amy at the time. The real reason was he couldn't bear the sorrow of his wife's death and the house was a constant reminder. He rented a small room in Bree for them. During this time Amy was getting better and better at mastering the bow and arrow. She could be seen practicing archery at the jail at a daily basis. When she was 15 her father decided it was time to take her into the wild and teach her how to take care of herself and make a living as a hunter. During all this he always had a painful expression on his face. It seems he never got over his wife's death. Soon he again began to be absent for periods of time as he saw that Amy could indeed take care of herself. Those periods soon turned to months at a time. All she knew was that he traveled north and that she was not to worry. Last time she saw her father was almost 3 years ago. But Amy holds no grudge towards him. She still loves him and is thankful that he taught her to fend for herself.
Amy got evicted from the Room as she couldn't pay the rent and her father was nowhere to be seen. She tried making a living as a hunter, like her father taught her, but it was a meager living. When she turned 21 she got an offer to join the Bree Town Watch and she accepted. The small monthly salary she would receive was good enough. Finally she got a steady income. Amongst the watchers she met her most trusted friend, Angurwen. Angie became a sort of mentor for Amy as she had served for almost 4 years already when Amy joined the ranks.
When Amy was 19 she fell in love with this man in Bree. He seemed very found of Amy as well, so she was very happy. Her mother listed a few things, on her deathbed, for Amy to remember. One of them was an advice as not put out to early concerning relations with men. So Amy decided not to bed with him, at least until they were betrothed. But the man grew very impatient and one day when they where out on a picnic outside town, his friend showed up. Amy was surprised but soon learned the reason. His friend grabbed her arms as her loved one tried to rip her dress off. She wiggled her self loose and with a butter knife held high, managed to run back to town. Her father came back shortly after that and she could not withhold the incident, as her father read her like an open book. The events that followed are not known to Amuel, but her father left again. It was the last time she saw her father and it was also the last time she saw those men. As a result of the incident, Amy finds it hard to let men close to her. She never leaves home without a dagger by her side. She sleeps with the same dagger under her pillow.
Lately Amuel have been suspecting that her father was not born in Bree after all. Orthan isn't exactly the typical male name in Breeland. Neither is Amuel a typical Dale name. But what got her wondering was a strange elf who came to see her while she was on duty, asking if she was Amuel of the Bree Town Watch. He asked if she knew the location of Orthan Bronfaron. She replied that Orthan was her father but that his surname was Woolgar, and that she had no idea where he was. She tried questioning the elf but he just mumbled something in Sindarin and wandered off.
