Outward Appearance

Barsule is an extremely handsome man. Despite his time on the battlefield he has no scars upon his face, he also looks younger than he is. He appears to be in his early thirties, although he is almost forty. Luscious golden hair falls to the length of his shoulders, he bears a thick beard that covers most of his face. It is a brighter gold than his hair, the occasional strand of white can be seen. Bright blue eyes and high cheekbones (which lie just above his beard) compliment this nicely. He is not very tall, standing at 5' 11'. He maintains a lean body to this day. Impressively so, for his age. He's in the same shape as you may expect to find men half his age in.

Background

Barsule was born in Dale, an orphan. He spent most of youth at an orphanage until he turned fourteen, and was cast out. Through an unexpected chain of events, he was acquainted with a certain Lord's son. Benedar Belmore the Second. Despite their social differences, the two boys became fast friends and Benedar convinced his father (Benedar the First) to allow Barsule to become a guard within their ranks. Barsule was trained as a guard and by the time he turned sixteen his skill with a blade was well renowned among the guards. Lord Benedar the First recognized this and knighted him after a skirmish on the road in which Barsule saved his life. This was much to the dismay of the current leader of the White Guard (his Lord's Guard), Sir Dorian Huke.

During another battle, just before they arrived in Dol Amroth (Lord Benedar's city), one of Lord Benedar the First's White Guard (Sir Gib Cotti) was struck down by a knight of a rival house (House Brazzi). Barsule battled this knight (Sir Bacenor Hurlement) in single combat and defeated him. Sir Bacenor was a well-known knight at the time and while not being on of the best in the land, he was twice Barsule's age and had been raised since birth as a knight. At the young age of 17 Barsule was named to the White Guard in the place of the late Sir Gib.

Just after Barsules 23rd birthday, House Benedar and House Brazzi declared open war on each other after years of their bannermen clashing. Sir Dorian Huke, who was still the leader of Lord Benedar's White Guard at the time, took himself and fifty men to join the opposition. He thought that due to the size of House Brazzi's army, there was no way they could lose. He was wrong. During this war, Sir Hugue Goethe (Lord Benedar's most loyal member of the Lord's Guard) was appointed acting head of the White Guard. The final battle took place in the Havens of Belfalas. Which was directly between Dol Amroth and Greyachre (Lord Brazzi's city). The battle raged on hard and despite House Benedar's efforts they were pushed back. This forced the White Guard, along with Lord Benedar the First and his son Benedar the Second, to lead the vanguard back into battle with a few other choice soldiers from the Swan Guard. While the White Guard did their best to defend their Lord, he took a nasty blow to the head from a mace. It wasn't a direct hit and it glanced off his metal helm. But it was a serious injury all the same. Sir Hugue began to drag the lord to the back when he was struck down by Sir Wimot Brout, the most famed knight on Lord Brazzi's side (who wielded a warhammer and towered above all men at the height of 6' 8''). The young Barsule moved in to protect his fallen Lord. When he was still standing after fighting for Sir Wilmot for more than twenty seconds, men from both sides stopped and watched. Forming a circle (and a temporary truce) around them. Lord Brazzi forced his way to the front of his forces to watch. The single combat raged on. Sir Wilmot was slower than Barsule with his hammer, but due to his strength, was faster than most men would be wielding it. Barsule constantly ducked, dodged and rolled his way out of the path of the hammer. Every once in awhile, he'd inflict a minor wound on Sir Wilmot, which never seemed to affect him. Eventually, Sir Wilmot layed a blow on Barsule, his warhammer finding its way to his chest. Barsule was in the midst of sidestepping, causing the fatal blow to glance off his armour. Winded and injured Barsule persevered. Sir Wilmot's arms got heavy, his attacks more powerful but sloppier. Barsule was able to get inside his defenses and put a sword through his neck. The battlefield was silent as a crypt. Lord Brazzi drew his sword once more, but instead of attacking, he surrendered. The surrender was accepted by Benedar the Second, due to his father's inability to do so. The terms were that House Brazzi had to swear fealty to House Belmore and never again take up arms against them, as well as offering up the traitor, Sir Dorian Huke. Sir Dorian was executed by Benedar the Second and Barsule earned the title Sir Barsule the Bold.

Due to his wound, Lord Benedar the First was no longer in a stable state of mind. He was prone to seizures and visions. Because of this, Benedar the Second became Lord of House Belmore and inherited all of his father's lands, bannermen and troops. His first act as Lord was to appoint Barsule to head of the White Guard. Barsule remained in this position until the age of 27, he had taken to drinking heavily and was stripped of his title. Lord Benedar the Second did however, allow him to stay in the White Guard due to his immense skill on the battlefield. He quickly withdrew this right from him when Barsule got into a drunken argument with his childhood friend. At the end of the argument Barsule was banished from Dol Amroth and stripped of all his lands. But not his title. It amused Benedar to allow Barsule to keep the title of 'Sir'.

Barsule left Dol Amroth and joined a sellsword company called Lover's Warriors. During his time there Barsule quickly (in less then a year) earned himself the spot of Lieutenant. He took place in many battles both before and after obtaining this title (inquire IC for detail).

At the age of 33, having earned an immense wealth, Barsule left the company, bought a ship and sailed around Middle-Earth for some time. He did this for five years before docking in Trestlebridge. From there, he journeyed down to Bree where he currently is visiting while his hired crew remains in Trestlebridge.

At the moment Barsule owns no solid land, only his ship.
