Rosie was born in Stock into a large and uncharacteristically energetic family of fisher hobbits, the Troutticklers. She could swim the Brandywine from bank to bank at a very young age, and her skill with sail and paddle, though nothing special, at least allowed her to join the family's yearly Floatathon from Maggot's farm up to Oatbarton.

However, Rosie was not destined for the fishing life. Great-Uncle Frogbottom gave her his old lute, and for 2 years she deafened many a toad 'round Stock before a chance meeting with the Dwarf, Grymrock Grey, set her furry feet on the road to Bree, and the bard's uncertain life.

She may often be seen on fine evenings, playing and singing near The Prancing Pony, with her friends and kin. Or, indeed, getting out her infamous rolling pin if unpleasantness threatens.
