Appearance: Like many men of Gondor south of the White Mountains, Edrastel is dark of hair with olive skin. Being a man who spends most of his time outdoors, he does not often bother with shaving his beard or cutting his hair, which he keeps in a bun or ponytail. His eyes are a deep blue like the sea. Despite having only a small amount of Númenórean heritage, he still stands tall at nearly a full ranga.

Attire: Edrastel's clothing varies depending on his location. Under most circumstances, he goes about in a walnut brown Tinker's armor, along with a a hood and a travel pack containing his woodcutter's axe and his quiver of arrows. When hunting in harsher, arid climates, he wears full armor of leather, fur, and steel. In colder climates such as the Misty Mountains or the icebay of Forochel, he wears a thick fur hauberk with a heavy cloak. When in Rivendell or other such esteemed places during times of rest, he wears the black robes and cloak of a Gondorian grammarian.

Speech: Westron is his first language. Being Gondorian, he has some natural skill with Sindarin, which his visits among the Elves has improved. He can recite Sindarin and Quenyan poetry thanks to his studies in Rivendell and Minas Tirith. He also picked up on some basic Haradric during his travels in the South. Due to long years spent away from the Sunlands, he now can only recall basic sentences in the most widespread Southron language, though he can still read their unique form of writing as easily as he could in the past.

Background

Edrastel was born on July 14th in the year 2984 of the Third Age. He spent his infancy and childhood years where he was born, in the town of Linhir upon the Rivers Gilrain and Serni in the province of Lebennin, Gondor. From a young age he learned the art of hunting with the bow and arrow as well as with the crossbow and bolt. His skill in hunting earned him the name "Curufaroth", meaning "clever hunter", among his friends in his hometown.

Edrastel's first journeys took him to the far south. During his travels into Haradwaith, he learned some of their language and discovered the truths of their culture. His southward journey taught him that not all Southrons were content with their allegiance with Sauron, and thenceforth he looked upon the Haradrim with pity rather than the hatred for their people that had grown in the hearts of his own people in Gondor.

Along with his love of the hunt, he always had a fascination with history and lore, interests which drove him to study in Minas Tirith for a time. In his journeys to the libraries of Minas Tirith he learned of the old kingdom of Arnor, kindling a desire within him to leave his homeland and venture north to see the ancient sites where Arnor's nation once stood, especially the old city of Fornost and the glorious capital of Annuminas.

Edrastel's greatest strength lies in his skills as a huntsman. Were it not for his true calling in the wilds, his deep love for lore and history could have easily led him to taking up loremastery. He has spent many months within the libraries of Minas Tirith and Rivendell learning of the great tales of the First Age and the years before. During his short time spent in Eriador, he has made many new friends and enemies. Recently, he has pledged his service to the Rangers of the North, having grown fond of the lands of Eriador and wishing to keep its inhabitants safe.
