Background
Backstory:
Tomen Alesage was born to two loving parents, in late Autumn in the Northern Bree-fields. He was born there, while his parents had been returning to Trestlebridge from a trip to the city of Bree, concerning their business. His mother did not have a choice, but to come to Bree as well, as the gathering required her as well. As the two rode back, his mother went into labour. They were able to seek out a farmer nearby, who let them stay at his home until his mother was better, and had birthed the baby. They returned to Trestlebridge after Tomen was safe, and lived very happily, for the next few years at least. At a young age, Tomen took interest in fighting and swordsmanship. He would sneak out of his chores, at the age of seven, and would watch the battle formation practices, or drilling techniques of the men of the Watch. It was in that moment that Tomen realized what the watch was for, to protect…
For a while, he kept quiet about his secret desire to join the ranks of the guard, but at the age of twelve, he could not keep his mouth shut. He ranted to his mother and father about how he would join the watch, and how he would defend his home from evils that wished to ensnare innocent lives. At first he was worried he would be punished for speaking on like this, but to his surprise; his parents were completely supportive of the idea. The watch gave him basic training, and drilling, and he’d been tought to fight with two swords, as well as how to basically use a bow, yet archery was more of a hobby for him.
As he reached the age of twenty, he was finally old and ready enough to join the watch of Trestlebridge, and for four years, he’d had an outstanding experience. He’d felt powerful, yet also morally respectful, and good. His parents were incredibly proud of him, and were glad they’d listened to their sons wishes and dreams.
Though one day, all this changed. Orcs were riding in on large Wargs, they were sent from Fornost, and began setting the entire city ablaze. Villagers were being slaughtered left and right, some managing to flee. Though Tomen stayed, and he fought. He pushed back the battalion of orcs, draining their numbers. Many a people were slain that night, should it have been Guard or townsperson, they were all dead. Tomen could hardly believe he’d been one to survive, and could only remember his mother turn to face him, then run north, his father wasn’t with her.
As the search for bodies came to an end, Tomen was so broken. His friends and family all murdered, or scattered across Eriador. Knowing now not what to do, Tomen decided that he could not stay in Trestlebridge, whether he was needed there or not, he couldn’t keep living in the burnt down graved yard so many loved ones had died in. He quickly departed for Bree, leaving nothing behind, not even a simple note. As he entered Bree, he would attempt to seek out the Bree Town Watch, but to what success...
