Outward Appearance

Nothing like having a beer at the Pony!

An overly well fed man and no mistake about it, he is often seen patrolling the streets with a straight back and a wary eye. "Bill the hook" unwavering at his side when he does so. He goes dressed in an old padded uniform that has lost all colour and needed stitching on more than one occasion. The suggestion that it needed such work is likely thanks to the size of his belly which is considerate indeed! His wild grey hair stands in all directions more often than not when it's not flat against his features from the streams of sweat that run down into his neck. He has the sweet brown eyes of a bovine grazing. Furthermore there is his big mustache that decorates his smiling mouth and his double chin is generally pressed up against the collar of his protection. And when he looks at you, he would be the first to raise a hand in greeting and wish you well.

Background

A born and bred Breelander, this man knows fairly little of the outside world aside from what travellers tell him. He has been a watchman always and for most of his life this meant dealing with no worse than that rascal Bill Ferny or wolves that get a bit too close for comfort. The name 'Tackle' has been given to him without ambiguity, simply meaning that runaways better be exceedingly swift to escape him if he so has set his mind to giving chase. Still first and foremost he does well by the folk he loves so much be they Man or Hobbit. In honesty though, he is becoming a bit of a relic from an older generation and has left the guarding for younger more spry watchers. The reason why he still is in fact one of the watch is simply because he may have some wisdom to share for these 'youngbucks'.

He often helps in the poor quarters, handing out soup that his wife made for him, known as 'Mother Blossom'. By all means they would've been a fairly popular couple throughout town, but things have changed..

Breefolk barely leave their houses anymore, armed strangers from far away have been allowed in the hedge. What once were rumours of far away wars have become distant certainties. A band of troublemakers has settled in the forest.. Times have changed in Bree ..and who can tell what'll happen with Tackle before all runs it's course?
