Information known to the Public: Race/Ethnicity: Gondorian Date of Birth: 19th day of Nénimë in the year of 2978 Name/s: High Captain Eglanion is his formal name, which the Eglan- means forsaken and the -ion means ‘son of’. This name serves as a modification of Eglanion’s true name, but no one knows of Lance's true name. Skin Tone: Eglanion's skin is not soft in the slightest. Because of many years training in combat, his skin is more calloused and thickened. Many cuts scatter across his face and across his body, but there aren’t any extreme scars enough for someone to notice unless they look close. Height: Eglanion appears to be shorter than most of his peers as well as those under him. Body Type: Eglanion is slim in frame and a somewhat athletic build. He is not bulky nor does he appear to have a muscular shape with narrow shoulders and a slim waist. This makes many people conclude that Eglanion lacks the strength of many of his fellow soldiers including the soldiers who work under him. Although some might pass this small frame on youth for he does appear young, others might assume it is just a case of bad breeding. Eye Color: The eyes of this man have a dark ring around the iris. Tendrils of this darkness reach in to the iris with bright blue color shimmering out through it all. There wouldn't be any warmth in their color, but the brilliancy of the blue color would be very noticable. Hair: Eglanion always keeps his hair cut very short. A chunk of his hair wraps around the frame of his face as it has a naturally rough texture to it. It was clear he didn't spend much time caring for it save for when he needed to be cut. Facial Structure: With thin cheeks and a narrow chin, Eglanion does have a pretty look about his face. None of the details of his face come across as extremely predominate, but they do have a very adolescent look about them. His skin is smooth with only a few scratches marking his features and his lips are full in their own right (despite having little color and appearing to be almost chapped). His nose is straight with little roundedness to it, but there is an ever so slight curve to its shape indicating it has been broken before in the past. Most people assume Eglanion is a young man and is probably in his early twenties even when he is in his late thirties. Education: Eglanion learned how to read and write from a young age due to his father’s insistence of his education (even if the man never came around). Due to his mother almost solely raising him, Eglanion learned how to cook, clean, and tend to a house. Between running away from home to join the Gondorian military and spending much of his childhood with a retired soldier, Eglanion learned how to fight very well. As Eglanion moved up in class, he did begin to study more academic texts and currently serves as an occasional guest lecturer at the university in Minas Tirith. Languages Spoken: Westron is Eglanion's main language and the only one he knew very well. Over the years, Eglanion has studied Gondorian Sindarin; however, he still has a bit of an accent when speaking the language. Weapons: On an average basis, Eglanion merely carries around his personal one-handed shortsword. However, he is prefers a two handed longsword for it is easier for him to generate force using the weight of the sword. Along with the swords, Eglanion is also adept in archery and fighting with axes for if he ever needs to. Special Abilities/Skills: There are many abilities Eglanion possesses by default, but the one skill he has the most ability in is the ability to lie. Because Eglanion has such extensive control over his emotional output, he is able to keep people from reading into the words he says. Also with the aid of this emotional control, Eglanion has a special skill at staying calm in overly stressful situations that has helped him earn his rank. Pets/Other: Currently, Eglanion has a young dog who has a shiny brown pelt and often stands with a tongue flopped to the side of his mouth. The dog is often cared for by his servant Glasdir. He also has a horse by the name of Lothuial that is typically cared by the stable hands in Minas Tirith. Standing 17 hands tall, Lothuial stands at a similar height to his average thoroughbred counterparts but instead of a sleek brown coat, he has a rough dotted pelt. Personality: Eglanion is a dry sort of personality by default. His expression is typically neutral and almost apathetic in everything he does. His voice carries a soft tone with a hint of a rasp as if he perpetually has a cold and often comes out in a monotone expression. Everything about the way he carries himself is fairly apathetic, but the words he speaks are different. When off duty in a non-formal setting, Lance often times make snarky remarks which gives him a reputation of being rude although his true intent is to be amusing. He tries to crack jokes, but often times due to the unwavering of his tone and expression, the jokes come across as awkward and makes social situations grow uncomfortable. He is not the type to go off and cause mayhem, but at the same time he is not the type to grow upset at other people's childish antics.

Background

Growing up Eglanion was never poor nor did he ever remember going hungry. His father, a wealthy merchant who often traveled away from their family's home in Tadrent, was never cruel to Eglanion nor was his mother, a proud and stunning woman. The young child was given the name of his deceased grandfather. The man's story was told to Eglanion often as a child whenever his father came around. He was a man born of low birth, a bastard child always looked down as such. However, as the bastard grew up, he found a cunningness of voice and a genius in convincing others that earned their family their lot in life. Eglanion's father upheld this career the first Eglanion held and carried it out to the fullest rarely spending time at home in his family. The man, although often emotionally absent in Eglanion's youth, never failed to financially provide for the family.
In all of Eglanion's life, he also never could recall being disliked by the children and adults around him. He always was peculiar from a young age, but often he ran with the other young boys gleefully playing through the village and causing childish havoc. Although his mother never was fond of him coming home in trouble with the guardsmen of the town, he still knew she held a certain level of affection for him.
Of all the people including his parents, none influenced Eglanion nearly as much as an old retired soldier by the name of Levanien who lived in the house next door. The man was gruff and crude in mannerisms, but held a soft place for Eglanion and his mother. Often spending dinners eating Nemirel's meals due to the fact he had no wife of his own to cook for him, Levanien often filled the emotional void of father for young Eglanion. Amoung the young lads of the town and the old soldier taking a kind heart to young Eglanion, Eglanion learned how to fight early on and surprisingly took well to it with a keen dexterity and athleticism.
Eglanion's mother was often trying to match Eglanion up to a wealthier family to marry into, but Eglanion rarely paid heed to his mother's nagging and pushing. Instead he sat listening to Levanien's story of combat and fighting. With bright exhilarated eyes and a broad grin, the little child loved listening to every detail he could pry out of the old man. Although his family held pride in their position of merchants, Eglanion wanted to be a soldier instead, but he never told his mother of these plans. He wanted to be someone and do great things. He wanted to fight for Gondor and be sung about for his heroics. Although such dreams are not easily won he finds out later in life.
The day came when Eglanion decided he was old enough to make his own choice about his future. Nemirel had announced she found a wealthy match for him to marry, but Eglanion refused. That evening he left and set out for Dol Amroth under the false story he had heard word from his father. Riding out, Eglanion made his way to the nearby city and signed on to be a soldier of Gondor.
Or at least that's what he thought he signed on to. At first Eglanion was actually acting more as a young page boy assigned to a wealthier man serving the military in Dol Amroth. Although Eglanion was trying to pass off as older than he was, he did not realize how young he actually looked at the time. The man, who assumed Eglanion to be a poor orphan, took the young boy under his wing. Eventually as Eglanion grew older, he worked as a guard for Lord Faston, a local in Dol Amroth. A man named Geoldir became close friends with Eglanion serving as a guard alongside him. Often they drank in local taverns together where Eglanion first saw the beautiful Miss Tegoliel. Despite his initial attractions to the young maiden, he never made a move for she was engaged to another very wealthy and powerful men. But young Eglanion still often spent time walking with her and talking as the two became close friends and their hidden attraction was never addressed.
Instead of pursuing frivolous romances, Eglanion focused on his job. Outside of an occasional drink and a stroll through the beautiful cityscape watching the harbor and waves, Eglanion focused on training and doing everything he could to show himself greater than the men around him.
After several years of working under Lord Faston, Eglanion's attention to detail did not go unnoticed as the wealthy man made note of Eglanion's promising nature. As Lord Faston grew into old age and his children were off in their own lives and his wife passed away, the man began to turn his attention to his perceived needs of the young man who served him. Lord Faston was a fine businessman and through the connections he had, he found a way to transfer Eglanion to a respectable role of First Lieutenant in Minas Tirith under High Captain Aedren. On his own with very few friends, Eglanion focused solely on his career. Eventually command of the garrison shifted and, at Aedren's suggestion, Eglanion became the Captain of the small group of men serving the garrison.
Eglanion never pursuit a relationship until that one damned woman caught his eyes. Her skin was golden and eyes so bright green the Eglanion felt mesmerized by them, not that he would ever admit such, and her name was Bregyds. After watching her punch a woman of high birth, Eglanion finally find himself falling for the young woman.

For four years, Bregdys and Eglanion held a solid relationship together, although never actually marrying. Their love was the only true calmness Eglanion ever felt for even though he was never hated through his childhood, he was never seen as the real him. Bregdys is the only one who has ever known a deep secret he has held his entire life and yet she loves him regardless and remains to be the only person to ever know his deepest secret. Sadly, the world changed and became more dangerous as outside forces began to close in around Minas Tirith. Battles rose up and filled Gondor forcing Eglanion to choose duty over love once more. And still that secret Eglanion must hold as he rides into battle. The truth that he was in fact born a woman.

|---|---|
| Relatives | Father: Carasson; Mother: Nemirel; Brother: Thalachon |
| Rivals/Enemies | He has no personal enemies, but of course he considers Haradrims and other evil foes who threaten the safety of Gondor as an enemy due to the nature of his job. As for rivals, the only person is his mother back at home. |
| Loves | The freedom his lies have given him, the ability to be respected now, his training with his sword especially, oddly enough, flowers, and to his dismay, Bregdys. |
|---|---|
| Hates | Being questioned under the suspicion of others, disrespect directed towards her from any rank of official, and carrots. Carrots are gross, don't even offer them to Eglanion. |
| Motivation | The motivation to excel is Eglanion's main motivation. He wants to be able to fulfill his job to its fullest and pave his own path to his future. Originally he yearned for freedom, but now he yearns to be something great. |
