Grandson of Gorlim, who fell at Gundabad in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. Gorloin inherited two large and beautiful rubies from him and like his grandfather, he neither knew what to do with such treasures.

Gorloin works as messenger because sometimes stout dwarven feet are preferred over ravens they usually use. This job requires one to master many skills like surviving in the wild, good physical fitness, hunting and every now and then slaying orcs.

Once after delivering message to Thorin's Hall, he quite literally bumped to Vagnur who fought at the same War with Gorlim. He was there on a business with elves of Bar-En-Vanimar. Gorloin was asked to accompany the old dwarf back to Rivendell where their company was about to head. It was great honor to Gorloin to be escort for such an honourable Dwarf-Lord. He also had always wanted to visit that Vale so he agreed wholeheartedly and now he is guest of Rivendell.
