An ex guard of Minas Tirith, Penlard has experienced much violence in his life, much of which he'd rather forget, others that make him proud to be a man of Gondor.

Once married to a lady named Gracdal, they had a son named Duinnion. Penlard felt it was his right to continue the line of guards within his family and taught Duinnion how to wield a sword from an early age, continuously taking him out on scouting trips  within his teenage years, earning his son the skills needed to protect the white city.

After the death of Gracdal from illness, Duinnion joined the guard as Penlard slowly spiralled into himself with depression. It was shortly after this time that Duinnion was sent to Eriador on a scout that only a handful of people knew about. Weeks went by and Penlard heard nothing.

Four months had gone by and Rifston was long overdue his arrival home. Penlard took it upon himself to travel to Bree to learn of his sons whereabouts.
