Sarephina was born in Lake Town and grew up there. She spent most of her childhood in Dale, though her parents were traveling bards, they never left the Kingdom of Dale until things got really bad there. Her family fled when she was just a little girl after their village was attacked, and they resettled in Bree. Her mother worked as a barmaid for one of the local Inns, and her father joined a Militia.

She didn't really have any family growing up. Most of her parent's family had been killed in the multiple orc attacks around Dale, and they never gave her any siblings before she died. As such, Sarephina learned how to be on her own fairly quickly. Her parents were always working and she didn't have anyone else to play with, so she played by herself in Chetwood, even though she knew how dangerous it was.

When she was still very young, she ran away from home. A traveling company found her, and she joined them in her travels, despite being still a child and not really able to offer anything to the group. Still, they wanted to keep her safe and she had simply told them that her parents were dead, so they felt obligated to take her along. There, she learned how to use several different weapons and she became a master marksman, favoring the bow above all else.

Sarephina continued to travel with them throughout her years as a teenager. She was good with her bow, and often went with the scouting parties whenever they entered a new area. She traveled all over Middle-Earth with the company and she didn't find herself back in Bree until she was in her mid 20s. After that, she decided that her time with the Company was over, and she finally returned home.

In her absence over the many years, Sarephina discovered that both of her parents had perished in Combe during a brigand attack. She was devastated. It was a home that Sarephina barely remembered but from what she did remember, it was a good and loving home, and she had been an ungrateful child that never thought twice about the loving parents she had left behind.

She got work as a hunter in Bree, and she caught the attention of an Assassin's Guild working from within the neighborhoods. Not an Assassin herself, Sarephina mostly just gathers and relays information for a good amount of coin, though she tells everyone that she works as a barmaid for a hunting lodge.
