Outward Appearance

Stitches is tall, with a sort of agile but fairly muscled build. His stature while clothed seems average. His skin is pale, but not ghastly so, just about as pale as a farmer can be. He hides most of this skin under a full layer of clothing, save his fingers from his gloves that lack fingertips. Mostly these fingers spend their time clutched around farm tools so the sunlight doesn't bother them much either tucked beneath his hands. His eyes are a pale emerald green, almost to the point of seeming gray with a pattern akin to cracking glass about to shatter, and his hair is ironically the color of straw, with a texture of silk.

The most noteworthy part of his appearance, gaining him the nickname Stitches, is a long tattoo that stretches in a smile from one cheek to the next, covering his lips and mouth in completely black ink, adorned with a stitch pattern often seen on the head of a burlap sack used for scarecrows. On the right side of this tattoo, a large blotch shaped scar is still healing, suggesting the severing of a large chunk of flesh from this area of his cheek. He hides all of this with a wide brimmed straw hat that matches the rest of his dirty farmer attire.

He can be seen carrying his scythe on his back. This scythe seems to be shaped like a farming scythe, and even used as one, but the wooden snath, stem, and grip has been reinforced with firm steel. Similarly, the blade seems bulkier, as though made of tougher stuff, solid, but sharp and keen. This, he says, is to protect Hengstacer farm, where he currently works, from nearby orcs and their raids, implying he may know how to use it.

Background

Stitches was originally Kakeraen Ristirith of Woodhurst. He belonged to a small family, and he fell in love with his next door neighbor's daughter. They grew up together with a relatively uneventful life. As he got older, he was trained, by himself and his father, in combat. He was to become a town guard, while his emotions were focused fully with his free time on pleasing his parents, spoiling his little brother Sehturis, and loving his fiance with no conditions. However, it all changed one day when his fiance, unbeknownst to him, grew bored of the traditional sense of love, and disappeared. Kakeraen traveled around Middle Earth to find her, but was never successful. He lost his fiance, he lost his family, and finally he had also lost himself. In a desperate attempt to return him home, his brother tried to hire someone to bring him back by force when he had at first refused. The man sent to retrieve Kakeraen was a madman, and this lead to a period of time he would soon forget, but would plague him if he didn't.

All manner of dark things happened within the maniac's lair. Amid the torture and usage, he was branded with the tattoo that would forever label him after he escaped, the stitches from one cheek to the other. However, one night, unexplainably as madmen are, it all came to a close. After a light but tormenting dinner, he gave Kakeraen a sharp bludgeoning, one that put Kakeraen into a tainted and darkened slumber. This bored his assaulter, and he left him there. Kakeraen never woke, but Stitches did.

He forgot his name, where he comes from, and even what emotions mean and how to feel them, it's as though his life completely started over. Two years ago he entered Bree-Land babbling to travelers about some hooded figure in a cave, telling him he must work the fields of Bree as repentance for his wrongdoings, and that he was graced with the blessing of forgetting said wrongdoings. Obediently, the amnesiac found work at a nearby farm in the Bree fields to the West, where he was subsequently called a freak, and harrowed by the farmers as some sort of outlandish abomination from some distant land. They told him they would consider paying him if he was their scarecrow, and that was that.

For a time, he spent his days crucified on a post, a warning to the crows, but he was never paid for it. He spent his days living in the barn on said farm for a few months. Eventually he began to make friends with some of the local wildlife, and grew a fondness for the brown nad red foxes of the near forests. When the farmers found he had been feeding the foxes large portions of his share of the chicken, they kicked him out under the threat of death. At first when he did not leave, so he could make sure the animals could escape safely, they stoned and beat him. He finally managed to hobble away the following morning with a farm scythe to hold him up. He made his way north until he came to Hengstacer farm.

There he was clothed a bit more befitting of a farmhand, and was allowed to work the fields for actual pay, so long as he help repel recent Orc raids on the farmers crops, livestock and horses. This gave Stitches the time and motivation to learn how to fight with his scythe, which he has become adept with.

Through both protecting one farm from the crows and protecting another from Orcs, it has been ingrained into his mind that his sole purpose is to protect the people who work the fields. Because the people who work the fields in Bree-Land are essentially but arguably part of the people in Bree itself, this parasitic belief of his has spread to them as well. When it comes to justice, his sense of morality is unformed, alongside his ignorance in concepts of the world. He believes with all his heart, that he must protect those around him. He cannot write, but used to draw in the dirt in the barn with sticks.

Without much of a personality to go off of, he lacks more than passive emotions until he feels attachment through experience. People he has met recently have provoked such emotions, but at face value he is calm, with a surprisingly peaceful and protective presence around him. Where these new emotions will lead him remains to be seen.
