This elf appears to be tall and well built, yet not heavy. He usually stands with a straight and proud posture in the presence of unknown folk, but is known to be of a more relaxed nature when in the company of friends. His arms and hands are large and strong, which witness of many long hours spent inside a workshop, swinging a hammer and working the forge. His skin is flawless, fair and lustrous like most other elves, and his eyes a silvery gray that matches his silver hair. He prefers light clothing that are either white or otherwise brightly colored for social gatherings, more sturdy and practical clothes for travelling, and he wears a leather apron when working. His very being symbolizes a strong will and spirit, that may once have been nearly broken and then rebuilt over the course of many years, and now stands stronger than ever.

Background

Long have been the years and even longer the nights, since a wide-eyed and innocent ellon fled and survived the sacking of Nargothrond, together with his older brother who carried him to safety, along with other survivors. They sought shelter in Doriath for a time, and the shocked young boy found it hard to understand what had happened, and that so many lives had been lost. The brothers eventually made their way towards the sea, and upon its shores he fell down upon his knees and mourned for uncounted days and nights, when everything that happened finally caught up with him. Many tears were shed and shared with the ocean's salty waters, weeping for those lost to the darkness and for those fallen in battle; and so he earned his epessë: Earnio - "Sea of Tears", given to him with love by his equally grieving brother. His birth-name(s) has not been lost to history, but he has not used them since. He wears his epessë not with shame but with pride, for to him it is a constant reminder that as long as one may weep and mourn, you are still alive and there is still a future filled with life, love and joy to be had, as long as one does not succumb to the sorrow and instead let it shape you into something stronger. It's been said that Earnio as a boy had darker hair, and that every strand eventually faded into silvery white with each tear that were shed into the ocean, though if it's true or not, no-one knows but him.

As time passed and the dark memories faded ever so slightly, Earnio served as a scribe for many years and eventually learned the arts of a blacksmith, supplying various tools and items for the great wars that plagued the world. He had some lighter training with shield, sword and spear, though he did not partake in many battles, save for the occasional skirmish that threatened them directly. The brothers survived the terrible wars, and eventually they both chose to stay in Middle-Earth and took refuge in the Gray Havens. They later traveled the world to once again find that lost youth, innocence and joy that fell together with Nargothrond, but the sea always called them back, and by the time his brother was finally ready to leave for Aman, Earnio had taken a liking to Mithlond's peaceful harbors and shipyards and he decided to stay there, pursuing a quiet life while honing his craft as a toolmaker for the shipbuilders and other crafters. On the side, he is also a passionate collector of fine beverages of the stronger sorts, as well as an avid reader of poetry and stories of old. He is unmarried and has sired no children, for he chose to put all his love into his work and interests, and as such never found someone to share a life with. Rarely did he leave his home and workshop, and even rarer were the times leaving Lindon behind once his brother was gone, but before he finally boards a ship and sails towards Aman, he wishes to see the world again to forever etch its beauty into his memory so that it will never be forgotten, and in doing so he also hopes to soothe that aching sorrow that all of his kin knows far too well.

As such, he sometimes wander around Middle-Earth without a specific goal; just taking in the full experience so that it may live forever in his mind. Where-ever that quest will finally bring him, who he will meet along the way, how long it will take and where it will end, no-one knows.

In recent times he traveled to the valley of Imladris in search for a new path in life, and he expects to stay there for quite some time, before he wanders further east. He has set up a temporary workshop by the forges of Imlad Gelair to further hone his craft, and has also accepted to become a resident toolmaker, smith and crafter for Bar-En-Vanimar, together with a new-found friend, the weaponsmith Golvagor.
