Nandutiriel and her parents were among the lucky ones who fled Eregion when the Enemy came. Along with many refugees from that area, they settled in Imladris.

When she came to her full maturity, Nandutiriel joined the Vale-guard, enjoying the opportunity to watch such few comings and goings as there were at the time. But something nagged at her, a sense of a higher purpose. Encouraged especially by her father, she entered the service of Lady Manadhlaer of Lósengriol; she was in some respects a natural, having learned to prefer the spear over all other weapons. When she discovered the extreme practicality of the shield both for defense and offense, she was additionally pleased.

Nandutiriel is in the habit of saluting just about everything that moves, and a few things that don't. She has strong opinions but habitually suppresses them, deferring to her Lady. She is not fond of dogs and is pretty well indifferent to music, although she is inordinately fond of daisies and seems to get along very well indeed with birds.
