Gryst stands around five foot eleven with broader shoulders and a lithe body. His dark brown hair is roughly cut as if he did it himself with his dagger. He has several rough-looking scars on his face that follow the pattern of a vicious knife fight. While it is evident he survived, his face at resting is twisted into an almost permanent scowl. Facial expressions are tricky for him, but he tries, usually ending up with a more lopsided rendition. The facial expression that looks the best seems to be a smirk, and he seems to know that, as he does it a lot. His cold blue eyes almost always have a stormy, brooding look about them, and when combined with his appearance, leaves him seeming a little imposing. Generally, a dagger hilt can be seen poking out of his left boot, and he always has a hunting dagger on his left hip. Often he carries a longsword on his right hip as well, betraying him as a southpaw fighter. Now and then a keen eye might catch sight of a silver chain around his neck.

From his northern accent, a well-traveled person might point his origin to somewhere in the northern reaches of Rhovanion. However his clothing is usually closer to Gondorian in style, and his weapons are all in the style carried by the Ithilien Rangers. 
 

Those who get past the rough exterior will find a level-headed man, very down to earth, who doesn't lack a sense of humor. Sometimes he can be a little blunt, but he usually means well. While he does have a sense of humor, it can quickly be put in check and he becomes a very serious and brooding person.
