Rotello has dark, curly hair and brown eyes. His face is tanned with a few big freckles and a quite prominent nose. He prefers clothing that is less fancy and more practical. His favourite piece of clothing is a red plaid shirt and a neckerchief. You probably won't see him without his backpack and his bow. He holds himself quite confident, often putting his hands on his hips, putting forward one leg or crossing his arms. He has a quick light step.

Character traits:

Rotello is cheerful, friendly, curious, very genuine and has a lot of love in his heart to give. Most of the time, what you see from Rotello, is exactly how he is. He doesn't hide what he thinks or wants. Sometimes his genuineness and curiosity has led to many awkward moments with other people.

In combat and discussions of combat, Rotello is quite different. He turns quiet and serious, with an immense focus on the task that has sometimes been described as almost scary and unnerving. At times it seems that Rotello has a fascination and curiousity for dangers and evil places

Background

His childhood:

Rotello was born 49 years ago in the town Little Delving in the Shire. He grew up in a loving family with his mom and dad. His dad Keppo was a forester who specialized in the health of the forests and the animals. He was particularly good at finding and identifying tracks, which he taught his son. His mom Rotruella was a chemist and inventor.

While Keppo was a respectable member of the Shire, Rotruella unfortunately was a thorn in a lot of people’s eyes for her open nature towards strangers and her strange and obscure hobbies, which sometimes got her into trouble with the Bounders. Many hated her and Rotello oftentimes got ridiculed and hated for his mother as well.

While she was reckless, she never wanted anything to happen to Rotello or anyone else. She did teach Rotello to always be kind and help people and that everyone in Middle-Earth was important. And that if there ever was injustice, you shouldn’t look away.

Adolescence:

When Rotello was 18, his mother died of a serious illness which understandably hit Rotello and his dad hard. His dad from then on raised Rotello alone, with the help of Rotello’s aunt.

Grieving his mother’s death, Rotello became more reclusive. A lot of times, Rotello would sit alone at the borders to the Rushock Bog, with a piece of wood and his knife and whittling away at it.

It so happened that one day a dwarf in Needlehole called Ulfar noticed Rotello and his great whittling skills. He offered him to teach him the ways of woodworking which Rotello accepted, thinking about his future for the first time in a while.

For many years, Ulfar and Rotello worked together on furniture, decorations, toys and bows. Rotello learned how to use a bow and started providing food for his family and neighbours. His friendship with the dwarf made him into a happier and more confident hobbit again. Hearing the dwarf’s stories about Ered Luin, Erebor and other places in Middle-Earth made Rotello curious about the world again and he remembered his mother’s words to live by.

Young adulthood:

When Ulfar told him that there was a conflict with the Dourhands in Ered Luin, Rotello wanted to help. At first reluctant, Ulfar taught him how to build barricades, catapults and ballistae and went to Ered Luin with him, much to the horror of Rotello’s father Keppo.

Rotello turned out to be a good archer and was of great help for the dwarves. After the conflict died down, Rotello returned to the Shire and started his own woodworker shop.

During that time, some hobbits started to respect him more and he found some friends and he was happy for some time.

But after some setbacks and after a hobbit lad broke his heart, Rotello felt the need to leave the Shire and he started travelling east. During his travels he became more and more aware of the growing threat of Mordor and Sauron. He got as far as Gondor, because he felt like he needed to help the regions closest to Mordor, but also partly because he wanted to see the red glow of Mordor in the distance for himself.

Now:

After Sauron was defeated, Rotello helped rebuild various cities, before joining a group of men, elves and dwarves that travels through the lands to restore Middle-earth and helping those in need.
