Satioh

Name Satioh

Occupation
Her quick and frequent visits with the local Warden in Bree have been noted by the townsfolk. She has also been spotted working with the horses of Hengstacer farm. Eogar claims her role is advisory, but she asks for nothing in return for this.
Age
An old soul, but she speaks little of her past and her true age is unknown to anyone but her.
Race
Man
Residence
Reclusive in nature, she camps on the borders in nearby forests or mountain sides. Though she will sometimes journey into town to visit connections.
Kinship
None
Outward Appearance

Features:

  • Satioh keeps her face hidden under the shadow of her hood. On the rare occasion that she is without it...this young woman LOOKS to be no older than her early 20s.
  • With piercing green eyes and shoulder length golden hair...she is fair indeed for a daughter of men, but takes little notice of compliments...waving them off with her hand and lowering her face.
  • She is taller than the average woman of Bree, standing at 6 ft

Clothing:

  • She dresses with practicality in mind, rather than vanity...and tends to favour unflattering rugged leathers, with simple earthly colours to deter attention. The light clothing enables swift movements whilst skillfully wielding a shield of great weight
  • She wears her hood and cloak to preserve her anonymity. In fact, because of her clothing...she is sometimes mistaken for a man at first glance.

Traits (and fighting):

  • She has a tendency to stare at the person she is conversing with. Each person will have her undivided attention if she is addressing them, out of both suspicion and respect. She often leaves new acquaintances feeling valued...but some find the intensity of her eyes unsettling.
  • She shows more affection towards her horse, Syn...than any man, woman or elf. He appears to be her closest companion. However, its clear she also has a soft spot for hobbits, who are amongst the few able to rouse laughter from her lips.
  • The patrons of the Prancing Pony have noted she sits with an unnerving stillness, much like the older generations who have perhaps experienced too much excitement, and now recognise the value of tranquility. Because of this, she will not be seen lingering in the Inn any longer than she absolutely needs to. She values peace away from battlefields and finds little comfort amongst the hussle of the drunk...
  • Nonetheless, any quiet characteristics are put aside if she is riding. In battle she is assertive and brave. Its not unlike Satioh to taunt her opponants or laugh in their faces.
  • She is in no way delicate. She may not be overly muscular, but her arms are strong and her body, swift...making her a master at spear wielding. If she leaves the town for any length of time...she will be sure to take her shield.

Weapons:

  • She favours horseback combat with her spear and javelin. Any that do not know her immediately recognise her prowess to be that of the Riddermark.
  • When journeying, she carries a shield unless her path takes her into the depths of neighbouring forests. At these times she relies much on a shortsword and bootknife.

Background

(Working Progress) :P

Friends
She does not have many friends and she is rarely seen speaking to the townsfolk...however, she holds the Captain Mithrendilh in high regard, out of respect and appreciation for aid in early days of her arrival in Bree.
Relatives
So far, there are none that have heard Satioh speak of family...though the Rohirrim in Bree quietly acknowledge her as kin. The skill with which she masters her mount is recognised by any horse-lord.
Rivals/Enemies
Any that pose threat to Middle Earth, and particularly its forests.
Loves
All that which dwells in the forest, stars in the night sky, the cheer found amongst hobbits...and the ever faithful horse that carries her
Hates
The growing threat towards the north, orcs and carelessness with animals.
Motivation
She claims her stay in Bree is temporary, and she moves with the times, but her ever present need to defend those at risk keeps her obligated to the West for now, particularly in Bree-Land and The Shire.
Quotes
"But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep"- Robert Frost.
