Outward Appearance

Somewhere below six feet wanders the curious figure of the elf calling himself Narros. Black of hair and bronze of skin, he stands apart from many of those that he would, nominally, call kin. Certainly, he dresses in the fashion of an elf of Lothlórien, cloaking himself in green and white, dagger at his side and bow at his back, riding westward atop the back of a black elk. Yet the air about him speaks to something... else.

Background

'Narros' is a slightly unconventional name, upon the ears of western elves. To  men and dwarves, it might sounds no stranger than any other name of the eldar. Yet to those who know their elvish, it does sit ill at ease upon the tongue. As if it doesn't quite fit, just as Narros himself doesn't seem to fit his claims of being a mirkwood elf. He struggles to name their customs, their laws, and rather most of the basics of their realm, Despite his manner of dress, it is as if he is not one of them at all.

Because he isn't.

The elf called Marres is a long, long way from home, a distant cousin to those elves that call Middle-Earth their own. He has learned that his people are known to these western elves - to him, the Buren - as Avari, though this understanding lacks a certain nuance. In particular, his tribe are the Kindi, a people who have made their home upon a vast plain, believed by them to have once been a vast and ancient sea. He knows the men of the East - Easterlings, as others call them - and it is for fear of their wrath that Marres has been driven westward. First finding refuge in the woodland realm, and then journeying ever westward, it slowly dawned on Marres that there were many differences between him and the elves in the west. Their lifespans and their language, but also their willingness to fight. The deep past is little known to Marres, but as he understands it, his people avoided quarrel with the false Creator and his servants, instead hiding within the depths of night. But the Buren... their ancestors were brave. Sought the light of day, before days had come into being. Though the sunrise now belongs to the 'Avari', all Marres sees in the direction of his former home is the encroaching darkness. Seeking the westernmost shore, he already dreads that he might go no further; thus then a thought creeps within his mind - that at some point, he must turn to face the wrath he fled.
