Iarfig is a Dwarf as many others.
In terms of height does not differ much from the others; his body is stocky and strong at the same time, constantly trained by the hard work in the mines or at the forge.
His hair and beard are dark brown; the beard is not very long due to his young age.
Even the eyes are dark brown, they are very deep as the works of his folk, but they seem to light up of a thousand fires when Iarfig fights.
He has a scar over his right eye, caused by a stab wound received by his fugitive cousin during a fight. Forunately his sight has not been affected by this wound.

As for attire, Iarfig wears often hauberks, because he prefers to travel light during his exploreations. He always carries his backpack with a pick ready for any excavations.
When circumstances requires it, Iarfig does not disdain the use of heavy plates armours.
From his belt always hang a couple of well-sharpened axes, crafted by himself, serve him at war as at peace.

Background

Iarfig the Dwarf

Iarfig is a young Dwarf, born few years after the reconquest of the Mountain.
Sencond of two children, has always seen his brother favored in everything; despite of this Iarfig has always remained faithful to his family, doing averything possible to increase its prestige,  respecting his father Dulmi and his decisions, admiring his brother Karfig and his deeds.

As soon as the age allowed him, Iarfig began to work in the family's copper mine, the work was doubly hard, as Iarfig had to cover both his and his brother production, as Karfig was destined to became part of the King's Guard.
The mine in the Mountain and the business in Ered Luin earned well, allowing the family to have an high standard of living.
During the years of work in the mines, Iarfig developed a great interest in matter of metals and minerals in general, becoming an expert in this sector. Even today Iarfig does not gave up to collect new stones during his explorations.
After a few years, Iarfig, hoping to please the father, decided to open a blacksmith shop, here the  copper extracted from the mine was refined and turned into ingots, or converted in well crafted blades.
This made his father angry, who told him: "We are a family of proud miners, your ancestors would turn in their graves!"; but the good incomes that soon came from this new activity made his father Dulmi change his mind.
Everything seemed to go well, when happened something that would change his family life.
A cousin of him stole many objects from Iarfig family's rival clans; those objects were of low economic worth, but of great symbolic value for those clans.
Iarfig and his family were accused of complicity and imprisoned, even his brother, Guard of the King since years, was accused.
Their wealth and their activities were confiscated, and their reputation was forever compromised.
Thanks to the help of some friends and kins they managed to escape; unfortunately during the flight they were spotted by sentinels and after  a small fight, Iarfig was separeted from his family; he rolled down along the Mountain slopes.
Iarfig wandered long searching his cousin or at least informations aout him willing to have his revenge. Exhausted, finally sought refuge in the Blue Mountains, not giving up his search of the villain who ruined his family.
Having as base Thorin's Hall, Iarfig pushed farther and farther collecting informations, meeting people, talking to Dwarves, Elves, Men and Hobbits.
It was during one of his trips that Iarfig joined the Knights Of Eriador, willing to help and to be helped. Here after few moths his father Dulmi reached him bringing the news of his brother death. Now togheter once again, father and son will try to rehabilitate their name capturing the thief and bring him to trial.

Notes:

The way Iarfig sees the world has changed alot after his family's misfortunes.
He always lived in the Mountain and its surroundings, he rarely lefted Erebor and however he never traveled farther than Esgaroth.
Iarfig always looked suspiciously at the other races, Elves above all. He would never trusted an Elf.  His wanderes has opened his eyes about the growing danger in the world, reached the firm belief that the Free Peoples should overcome their differences and mistrusts and cooperate for a mutual benefit.
As all the Dwarves Iarfig is still proud and stubborn, but now look at the world with different eye having stopped mind only his own garden.
