Story

Late spring, Forlindon, a year ago

Somewhere out there, an owl cried.

Hoot hoot

Earcalie snorted, sat alone on the porch of her house, trying to understand from where the cry was coming. The porch was almost all in the shadow, lit only by the flickering light of a lantern hanged onto a beam, already on the way to extinguish by itself. The elleth didn’t care if it was extinguishing.

To Elbereth

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Poetry

Oh, Elbereth!
How greedily I wish to be inspired,
To breath the diamond dust inside of me,
To not have any words to speak,
But let the blessed poetry to glitter
Inside the drops of dew
That freshly cover would
The petals of my lips with silver garb.

And then my joy and praise shall flow!
Oh Elbereth, star-weaver, wind-carressed,
Accept my cry, beg, grace my path with light!

((Sappiness warning - this is after an old German Christmas song.))

The forests lay in starlit night,
Elbereth Gilthoniel!
To forests under starlit night,
A footfall came so soft and light,
Elbereth Gilthoniel!

The land lay barren under snow,
Elbereth Gilthoniel!
The land lay barren under snow,
For seven years no leaf did grow,
Elbereth Gilthoniel!

Then from the thorns a rose did spring,
Elbereth Gilthoniel!
As Elbereth did softly sing,

Elven Hymn to Elbereth

Poetry

Snow-white! Snow-white! O Lady clear!
O Queen beyond the Western Seas!
O Light to us that wander here
Amid the world of woven trees!

Gilthoniel! O Elbereth!
Clear are thy eyes and bright thy breath!
Snow-white! Snow-white! We sing to thee
In a far land beyond the Sea.

O stars that in the Sunless Year
With shining hand by her were sown,
