The Fateful Dances

When Arnleik performed in the Prancing Pony, there was always a more wholesome feel to the inn. It was to his music that Sicarra and Tarsorel shared their first dance, and Ryheric first danced with Emmawynn in public despite her shyness. Later, a drunken woman had joined the dancing and revelled with the company. She proved herself to be a surprisingly apt storyteller. Winnie had performed on her lute for one of the largest crowds of dancers Ryheric had seen and he was given the chance for dancing instead of providing music. It was a good night.

Ryheric had never heard such masterful music. The melodies from the dwarven minstrel inspired him for months after the notes had subsided.

He played the music for a place where a stream met a dark, clear lake.

Also known through endearment and chance as the Lake of Tears.

The stream swept, climbed, danced as it always would. Then the lake ran, rapid and smiling despite herself. Regal as a queen and joyous as a windswept banner.

The disturbance, he secretly fancied, caused light to finally reach down to the depths.

Even if only for a little while.

A song of peaceful, civilised beauty with a thin layer of sickness.

The Ninth Lute

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

In the end, the eighth lute's demise was in its abandonment. Left discarded in a nest of leaf litter at the edge of the Ithilien woods. Someday, a far roaming wanderer might stumble upon the bleached, wooden skeleton, strings long since corroded, and wonder who might have left it there. Ryheric was again luteless, in the meantime.

An extreme and bloody business had been finalised, the lute lost in violent circumstance, the twice-chipped curved southern blade reclaimed, then a long road. Eventually, Ryheric found himself in Breeland once more.
