Elufer studied the imperfections of translational symmetry of the shard, measured and calculated its geometry and compared it to its light refraction in attempts to uncover any hook or a secret key to opening the crystal's power for The Wyld Hunt. She ended up with a lot of factual information, but she had yet to find out the application of it in different environments. The most intriguing for her was the observation how light refraction bent when she applied charged ebony to it. She sensed that the spark had somehow tapped on the crystal's potential.
This morning she was sitting in her study in Rivendell, sipping jasmine tea and observing through the widely open window how the clouds were banding together on the sky, their color darkening with apparent density.
Elufer knew that lava had a potential to produce lightning charges. Since Shemkel acquired this shard deep in the belly of Moria, it seemed plausible that the shard had to be activated by such charge. Elufer, however did not want to even step her foot into that dreaded place. Moria! She disliked Moria after she stepped her foot there at once, even though she did not go far at all.
Elufer glanced at the sky again, and she knew what needed to be done. She once conducted such experiments, and although they ended abruptly and poorly for her, she knew the way to reliably get a lightning charge. Weathertop.
Now, she only needed to write to Svaroh to consult with him on that matter.
