Shemkel

A letter delivered to Svaroh's residence at Thorin's Hall by the local Ered Luin messenger, supposedly arriving from Ered Luin's Wyld Hunt Den, but clearly originating from Rivendell.

Elufer studied the imperfections of translational symmetry of the shard, measured and calculated its geometry and compared it to its light refraction in attempts to uncover any hook or a secret key to opening the crystal's power for The Wyld Hunt. She ended up with a lot of factual information, but she had yet to find out the application of it in different environments.

The uruk-hai laid dead, each with an arrow protruding from an eye socket or their necks. Some of them died in agony. It was evident by the soil around them, plowed thoroughly with their wiggling feet.

Shemkel looked at their foul-smelling blood, soaking into the ground, with distaste. His keen, elven senses were repelled by the pungent odour and grotesque shapes of the creatures. Gondorian soil was used to that, over all the years of neighbouring with Mordor, alas, lately the orcish incursions started to increase.

Elufer has been sitting in her study in Imladris for long, with the windows wide open, letting in the fresh breeze and enjoying the sound and vibration of the river below. She was in her element again. The environment was soothing and beneficially healing , especially after her return from Moria. She hasn't been there for long, yet, it drained Elufer to be there like nothing ever tired her before. Her thoughts were drifting...

The night was cold, barely lit by a thin crescent of the moon and the few stars that managed to shine through the dense clouds above. Barely any could have been heard. The nature laid silent, aware of unnatural powers gathering nearby. Stones and trees, ground and grass, everything was shrouded in thickening mists. An hour or two more, that was all that was needed for the sun to come up. Still, that was enough to keep the lands in darkness.

Esteldin felt almost empty, with the Dunedains and their allies gathered, preparing for a journey further South. Yes, Grey Company was needed elsewhere, but the North was far from being safe. Many of the Rangers knew that and they left their beloved lands with a heavy heart.

The Wyld Hunt was always there and their allies could always count on the Wolves help, but the Pack was far from numerous. Spread around Eriador and beyond, the Hunt overextended and needed new eyes and teeth themselves.
