A Timeline concerning Sídhirien, Thandalagos and their Family



Below is a record of significant and important events that concern Sídhirien and Thandalagos' immediate friends and family, starting from the middle of the First Age all the way to present day.


First Age

F.A. 339 - Birth of Sídheldes in Doriath, firstborn of the minor Elven house of the Bar-en-Lírdinen (S. Silent Poets). In the years before the Kinslaying, Sídheldes and her mother before her served as court poets.
F.A. 506 - Second Kinslaying in Menegroth. Sídheldes' father Sídhaelon (S. Wise Peace) is slain at the battle, and his wife Belegureth (S. Great Heart) is lost in the chaos, never to be seen again. Sídheldes flees to the Havens of Sirion.
F.A. 538 - Third Kinslaying at the Havens of Sirion. Tired of constant war and bloodshed among the Eldar, Sídheldes nearly sails west, only to be convinced to remain last-minute at the behest of the ellon Halhebedon (S. Hidden Keeper). A friendship spanning countless centuries begins.
F.A. 545-590War of Wrath against Morgoth. Sídheldes survives the chaos and breaking of Beleriand.

Second Age

S.A. 1Lindon established. Sídheldes joins the surviving Elves of Beleriand and moves to live in Lindon. Alagosdir is born to Elegessil (S. Wind Storm) and Mithfainor (S. Grey Cloud).
S.A. 142 – Alagosdir, returning from a voyage to the young kingdom of Númenor, meets Sídheldes in Mithlond. The two strike up a friendship and gradually fall in love.
S.A. 156 – Alagosdir and Sídheldes are married.
S.A. 223Thandalagos (S. True Wind Storm), the firstborn of Alagosdir and Sídheldes, is born.
S.A. 423 – Thandalagos begins to experience dreams of an Elf-maiden meeting her end in the Hithaeglir. Alagosdir and Sídheldes realize that their son may have been given the Gift of Foresight.
S.A. 700/750Founding of Eregion. Thandalagos moves to dwell there. Alagosdir and Sídheldes remain in Lindon.
S.A. 800 – It is around this time that Thandalagos receives the Epessë Cendir (S. Seer).
S.A. 1590The creation of the Three Rings of Power. Uncertain and plagued with doubt, Thandalagos decides to return to Lindon, sensing ill times ahead.
S.A. 1697The Sack of Eregion and founding of Rivendell. Thandalagos dreams that he will have a sister many millennia later, and begins to go exclusively by his Epessë Cendir.
S.A. 1700The Defeat of Sauron.
S.A. 1732 – Sídheldes and Alagosdir move with their son to Rivendell.
S.A. 3319Downfall of Númenor. Halhebedon, Sídheldes’ friend who remained in Lindon, witnesses the apocalyptic sinking and writes to Sídheldes about the great terror of the waves.
S.A. 3430Formation of the Last Alliance. Halhebedon joins the host of Gil-Galad.
S.A. 3431The Last Alliance marches to Rivendell. Alagosdir and Cendir join the host’s march towards Mordor.
S.A. 3434The Battle of Dagorlad. Alagosdir is gravely injured in the battle and brought back to Rivendell by Cendir.
S.A. 3434-3441War of the Last Alliance against Sauron. During this time, Cendir’s foresight begins to wane, and his dreams lose their prophetic meaning.

Third Age

T.A. 24 – Sídheldes and Alagosdir begin to desire another child, but they decide to hold off on the advice of their son and wait for “better times”.
T.A. 1050 – A shadow falls on Greenwood, and it is afterward called Mirkwood by men. Cendir briefly goes there to investigate.
T.A. 1304 – Cendir returns to Rivendell.
T.A. 2063Start of the Watchful Peace.
T.A. 2064 – Birth of the twins Díllothel and Hallothel to Halhebedon and his wife, Dínneth.
T.A. 2067 – Sídhirien, daughter of Sídheldes and Alagosdir, is born.
T.A. 2240 – Sídhirien begins to train as a scout under Lord Brenedir. It is at this time that she and Cendir meet and befriend Hallothel and Díllothel.
T.A. 2459 – Cendir and Hallothel are betrothed.
T.A. 2460End of the Watchful Peace. Sídheldes and Alagosdir opt to move back to Lindon to be closer to the sea.
T.A. 2462 – Sídhirien, Hallothel and Díllothel are sent out to the Hithaeglir to observe Goblin-Town for any renewed sign of activity. Hallothel and Díllothel perish in a small skirmish with orcs, and Sídhirien flees and is subsequently rescued by a group of scouts sent to check on their position.
T.A. 2463 – Cendir leaves Rivendell for Lindon, blaming Sídhirien for his fiancée’s death.
T.A. 2465 – Cendir begins working in the libraries of Duillond, and gradually takes on the responsibility of teaching young Elven children.
T.A. 2543 – Sídhirien returns to active duty and begins to isolate herself from others, preferring to wander the Hithaeglir alone. She is nicknamed Losseth (S. Snow) by the denizens of Imladris. She receives Laegrist, the Keen Cleaver, and Aegros, the Piercing Rain, from Halhebedon and Dínneth.
T.A. 2544 – Halhebedon and Dínneth sail west to join their daughters in Valinor.
T.A. 2993 – Sídhirien meets and befriends the ranger Thorontir. They go on a quest to catch a glimpse of the Great Eagles of Manwë, with Sídhirien joining for the additional purpose of scouting out Goblin-town once more.
Present Day – Sídhirien meets the Loth-i-Lonnath and volunteers to go to Tharbad to investigate the Mithdirith’s disappearance on behalf of the Lady Lothoniel and Lord Cirdamir. She feels the call of the Sea through the waters of the Greyflood, and decides to join the herth on their return journey to Lindon. Cendir, informed of her impending arrival, awaits his sister's coming, setting the stage for a rather painful and awkward reunion.
