It’s always good when you return home from a journey. Back in the warmth of your home, the always full mug of your drink and the warm hearth. For once we haven’t encountered any trouble on our trip, no fights, no pursue, nothing. Only the incident in the Old Forest but that is to be expected there. We passed through the Shire and then into the Southern part of Ered Luin among the Elves. It was good and refreshing. It relaxes body and mind there.
What I liked was the simple life of the Hobbits when we passed through. I suppose it’s the first time I noticed it. How good and calm farming life seems. Where one’s troubles are the livestock and some plants here and there. That’s what made me seek apples to make cider again I think, the wish to do something with my hands that doesn’t involve killing or making weapons. Just something relaxing that others can enjoy. I am even considering buying livestock to put in a small property that I have on the end of the village. A place where I can go after I train and spend a few hours. We’ll see.
[Elias] was surprised to hear it when I mentioned it. I was there earlier. For two consecutive days I have been there now, yesterday alone, today with [Cedwyn]. There was a woman who calls herself Sol, she trades her eggs, was a fighter she said. That was another thing that made me consider livestock. The fact that I want to create and strengthen ties among those who trade in the community. Cedwyn bakes and sells, Elias is a healer and trades his skills to help people, that woman trades her eggs for goods or services, depending on deals. I run an inn and make weapons but can also do tools if needed. But I rather make weapons… Having an inn and offering food and drink along with accommodation is good but I want something else too, so I think I will buy some livestock. Elias will be shocked, but also delighted because he will be able to open them up and see their insides.
Ah that man. Poor man. Poor poor man. He somehow managed to mess with, by what it looks like, a horrible woman. He doesn’t know how to behave to others and especially women it is true, but she has been harsh with him and it seems like she is trying very hard to manipulate him. So hard that in my eyes it’s obvious that she lies. The man brought her on the trip and the came as far as Buckland, only to leave the day after. Elias told me that she left because she was unhappy. I can’t understand it though. If you care for someone you share things. You are on a trip, you don’t just fuck off, you go through it, it’s an experience to strengthen the bond or break it completely. In their case it probably broke it. Even funnier! She left the next day and at once sent him a drawing of her, surely to make him feel bad for something he did not do. And now he is troubled greatly by her. It seems that they slept together. She told him that she might be pregnant and he gave her something to stop it. Then that woman told him that others told her that what he gave her was dangerous. The man knows what he’s doing… And what’s even worse, by the looks of it she went all over the town telling people that she is pregnant.
I don’t know what to say or do. I adviced him as much I could. The rest is up to him. He needs to close all doors of communication with her and be done with it. She is the reason for his misery. Yes, hurt feelings can make one act badly but this one overdid it. The man is not well. But he is coping with it in his own way. He knows that his true friends are by his side. We’ll see what else will happen.
If need be I’ll take him on another hunting trip! Who is better to help him deal with such things if not me?!
I think that tomorrow I will go at farms and ask about animals.
