The Diary of Thistle - Entry 5

Sorrel's feeling better, I got her the medicine from Miss Ceowen's infirmary and she isn't coughing up such a storm anymore. Mister Dimheim had given me some stuff for her before, garlic? And it went away for a while but just recently she's been coughing like crazy again. Thyme reckons that it's because of the heat and the dry windy season kicking up a bunch of dust, but it's never made any of the others cough like it's been making her. She was blue in the face the other day. I thought about bundling her up and running her down to the soothery. It eventually passed and good thing, because I spent all the coin I had on her medicine and didn't have any more to pay for someone to look at her.

I did get a new client, and he pays well enough. Only thing now is that I think he's taken a liken to me, and that isn't good for someone who works like I do. He's a real cute fellow, and I like spending time with him, but giving up my work because a boy likes me means that I can't pay for food on the table. And if Sorrel keeps being sick like she is, then I won't be able to get her anymore medicine. Billbert suggested that I send her up there to him, he says the air is better up there. But I've heard about orcs attacking Trestlebridge and I can't see how the air there is any better than the air here. Plus, Billbert don't know a thing about taking care of a child.

I haven't heard from Woodston in a bit, and I still need to ask him if he can get us a deer for Miss Piper's brother. She said he's a real handsome fellow, but I've yet to seen him. He works up in Trestlebridge with Billbert, but Bill isn't coming down with him. He said he's got too much work to do. The Plumwood siblings have a lot of coin, as far as I know, so I can't imagine why her brother has to go up to Trestlebridge to work with Billbert.
