Chronicle Summary
Tales, memories, actions and plans of a small number of Avari Elves, of one particular Clan of Tatyan descent. Some of these are recorded in post-exilic Quenya by a Nolde acquaintance some of the leaders have come to trust. Some are straightforward adventures.
Chronicle Content
It is the year 1985 of the Third Age. Times are changing dramatically, war is in the air of parts of Middle Earth again. Many of the Eldar are planning to sail West, or already have done so.
In the East, some of the Avari stir. Also declining in number compared to their past, they are divided from the Elves of the West by time and culture, by hopes and dreams, and by the original 'Sundering of the Elves'. They will not out rightly contest with the evil of the Dark Lord in Middle Earth, but there are whispers of what to do about the lands they try to protect.
Although not in open conflict with any at present, some few of the Remainers press for conflict against the 'destroyers of nature' the Race of Man, others want to see any of the 'Betrayers', the returned Eldar, who for whatever reason seek to remain, driven away. However, behind any argument, all wish Middle-Earth to be healed.
After debates amongst the leaders, a few members of the Clan are sent West to take measure of developments. Are all the Eldar departing? How strong are the Race of Man? Do the Avari personally remain hidden or do they try to actively heal and restore?
Three Scouts seek initial answers, they must also tread long unused paths, far to the West of their homes, and venture across the Hithaeglir.
(I am using whatever information I can find in The Silmarilion, The Lord of the Rings, The Histories of Middle Earth, Unfinished Tales, and any other of the Professor's works, but there is little on the Avari. Therefore much in these stories is conjecture, drawn from my own imagination and that of a few others inspired by Tolkien.)
