The people that try to guess his age are often wrong, he appears younger than he really is. His silver lined grey hair and beard look well-tended and probably is maintained by servants. His life of service with the knighthood of Dol Amroth has given him a strong and vivid body and a pair of rough hands. He has a confident and calm air around him and is respected and well known around Dol Amroth. He is often seen wearing plated armor riding an equally armor plated steed. He does not like to talk much and when he does he has a rather calm voice. He holds nobility, valour, courage and trust in high regard. Yet doubt gnaws him about the direction of his house of late by the rule of his brother Fernmir. And not to mention the weakening of Gondor’s defenses in the east.

Background
1. Childhood: 2944 – 2964
Anatarion was born in Dol Amroth in the year of 2944 of the third age and was the second son of Ferrandir, lord of the noble house of Baradaer. Although Gondor was in a state of continuing decline, he lived in the wealth and prosperity of his house. He had a proper educations, learning to write, read and cultural and history lessons. Lord Ferrandir was a stern man who showed little affection towards Anatarion, all his attention went to his older brother Fernmir in whom he saw his successor. Nevertheless Fernmir and Anatarion enjoyed their time in their younger days and looked after each other like brothers do.
2. Knighthood: 2964 – 2979
Anatarion was driven to join the service of the knights of Dol Amroth. House Baradaer was well known throughout the generations to deliver their sons to the knightly order of Dol Amroth. Anatarion followed the military academy and learned to fight with sword, spear and most of all horseback formations. He was knighted and accepted among the ranks of the knights at the age of 28 and became oathsworn to Prince Anglimir and seven years later to his son prince Adrahil II of Dol Amroth. During these years Lord Ferrandir bethrothed his eldest son to a noble lady Anora who soon gave birth to Belecdir and a few years after that another son Hallathor. For unclear reasons, Fernmir was send out to north to secure trade with the northern kingdom of Rohan. During that time Fernmir had another wife in secret who gave him another son Brenthelm and a daughter Freia. (No-one of house Baradaer ever found out about this). Both brothers grew apart as Fernmir was in Rohan and Anatarion was focusing on his military career. Anatarion reached the age of 31 and was betrothed to the lovely Mirian. These days were his golden years, he fought bravely with his fellow knights against the invading forces south of Harad and the corsairs of Umbar. His deeds were great in battle and earned renown among the ranks.
3. The death of Lord Ferrandir: 2980 -2985
And there he lay on the stone floor of the tower of Baradaer, no clear cause of death or injury was found. His heart must have simply stopped. Ferrandir his death was a shock to most of the family, he died too early at the age of 68, as a trace of blood of the Numenor still runs in this family his life expectancy was at least 95. Fernmir returned to Dol Amroth as soon as he received the word, he was eager to claim the lordship of house Baradaer as it was now rightfully his. Anatarion helped his brother Fernmir during these days to keep the order within the house and help him settle in his new position.
4. Prosperity: 2986 - 3000
Years passed as Fernmir continued to rule over his house, and he did well, the house grew more wealthy each year. Anatarion was proud of his brother but hardly involved with all the economic and political business that kept Fernmir occupied. Anatarion was promoted to captain of the knights under the rule of Prince Andrahil II and got command of a regiment. He also trained the younger knights-in-making, among them was also Belecdir the eldest son of Fernmir. The knights patrolled the trade routes between the cities and slain many foes and dangers that threatened Gondor. But the enemy grew more and more numerous, Anatarion heard troubling rumors of a union between the men of Harad and the shadow of Mordor. No matter how many foes they cut down, there were always more turning up.
5. The shadow over house Baradaer: 3001 – now
The relation between Fernmir and Anatarion was never so cold. Fernmir was completely occupied in his.. well… Anatarion had no idea what his brother was doing every day. The tower of Baradaer used to be open for the family, but Fernmir has locked it up and claimed it for his own purposes. The relation between Fernmir and his son Belecdir was not that bright either. Fernmir wanted his son to do work for him but he never seemed to have the time for it. Belecdir was now in the regiment led by his uncle Anatarion, and both had a grown a solid bond. Due to this Fernmir lost control over the future of his eldest son, to his dismay. Instead, Fernmir has put his control pressure over his second son Hallathor who seemed more keen to abide his fathers wishes. Anatarion was slowly turning grey and his daughters turned into beautiful women. He loved them most in the world, and found strength still in the idea to keep his daughter’s safe from harm as the ongoing shadow that grew over Gondor. Lately, Anatarion started to question his brothers intentions, especially when he noticed he had dealings with shady folk like that Gilran. His worry is not only the shadow of the east, but also the shadow that grows inside house Baradaer.
