| Outward Appearance | Age: 58 (Deceased) Height: 6' 6'' Weight: 290 lbs Name Pronunciation: Grr-for Eyes: Ice blue Scars, Marks, Tattoos etc: Most notably Gerfor had a large scar around his right eye, a constant reminder of just how close he came to losing that eye. Otherwise, he had various other scars along with fresh cuts and bruises. He was a warrior until his dying day. Weapons: Gerfor typically carried around a hand-and-a-half sword. Although when going into battle, he'd bring his axe. He would argue that his two fists were weapons in themselves though, any man unlucky enough to have fought him would agree. Political Affiliation: Gerfor didn't have a mind for politics. He went where he was told to go by Hardoleth and did what he was told to do. His loyalty created a strong friendship between the two. He also led a small group of sellswords within The Bloody Dawn as a tactical assault group. Religion: Gerfor wasn't religious, though he didn't judge people who were. He was largely indifferent to it all. Education: Gerfor didn't have a formal academic education. However, he learned from a young age the arts of combat and tactics. Languages Spoken: Westron (native), Rohirric (moderate) and, surprisingly, a few words of Haradrim (really just 'Hello' and 'How are you?' with a few odds and ends tossed in). Appearance: Through regimented training, every day, Gerfor was able to remain extremely muscular, even when his speed started to fade with age. He stood at 6 feet tall and had piercing blue eyes. Although, for all his intimidating qualities, he had one that could make everyone forget about them - his smile - which exposed his true, kind nature. Though he was old, there was something handsome about Gerfor, it had stood out far more clearly in his youth. |

Background
Gerfor, despite his happy nature, had a sad upbringing. He was raised in a small mining village in Dale. His family was responsible for most of the village's agriculture. When Gerfor was fourteen years old he skipped his daily chores to spend time with his childhood love, Serena. The two of them ran off into the hills that day and found shelter in a small cave. There is when she lost her maidenhead to him and him to her.
To their horror, when they returned back to their village later that night it had been raided by a band of outlaws that roamed the land. They had missed the bulk of the attack but some of the raiders were still present. They both split up to find their families and meet back at the cave. Gerfor managed to make his way back to his farm where he found the dead bodies of his parents. His mother with a bloody knife in hand and the bodies of two raiders beside her and his father with a makeshift club that was covered in brains, blood and other bodily fluid. There were four raiders around his body. Gerfor found comfort in knowing they hadn't died without a fight.
Upon searching the house further he found his twin brother, Alvor, and his little sister, Matilda, hiding beneath the floorboards in their barn. The three of them managed to escape up to the cave where they waited for two days for Serena but she never showed up. Gerfor decided that they had to keep moving and make for Dale. They had not even made it a days trip when a group of raiders found them and captured them. Gerfor and Alvor killed three raiders in the process but was eventually taken hostage when the group got hold of Matilda. The trio were brought back to the village where they met with the leader of these raiders, Cornelius Cobb, who ordered his men to restrain Gerfor and Alvor and watch as they raped Matilda in front of them and then beat them to death.
The raiders followed the order with no hesitance. After they had raped Matilda, Cornelius slit her throat and began to beat the two brothers. Alvor was beaten so badly that he died before the beating had stopped. Gerfor on the other hand was only knocked unconscious and they were both thrown in the mass grave they had dug for the bodies of the villagers. When he woke up, Gerfor was burried beneath the decomposing remains of friends, family and acquaintances. People he had grown up with and grown close too. It took him hours but eventually he wormed his way out of the pit of death. He recognized Serena's body near the top of the pile, along with several members of her family.
And so, Gerfor left the abandoned village to begin anew. Taking only a hatchet with him. He travelled to Dale and it was not long before one of the mercenary companies, Scorpio's Spawn, recruited him for a modest salary based on his size alone. It was here that Gerfor learned how to fight from a man that he would later consider his mentor, Galangar Nalor. Gerfor learned how to fight with all common weapons but quickly took a liking to the axe, especially two-handed ones. It wasn't long before Gerfor was considered one of the best fighters in the company and not long after that before he had created a name for himself within the realm. Whispers of a man called Gerfor the Giant spread widely. Some even claimed he was half-giant.
Gerfor recieved several offers from Lords and wealthy merchants alike for him to join their personal guard. However, Gerfor never particularly liked those who lived 'posh' lifestyles all that much so he turned them all down. When Gerfor was in his mid-twenties he became even more of a legend. Striking down several well-noted knights and even killing some other heroes. It wasn't until he was in his fifties that he met Sarriya who was currently travelling the realm with Lord Gerwolf, who had taken her as a ward, and his party. During their time sharing the same ruin in the North Downs, the two became very close and Gerfor begun to think of Sarriya of somewhat of a daughter figure. Once she told him about the mistreatment that had befallen her, Gerfor helped her escape to Bree. There the two lived happily for years, their father-daughter bond only became stronger over time until it they might as well have been bound by blood. Then, on one fateful day, Sarriya was attacked by Praesule, the Bree-town ripper, in the empty mess hall of Bree. Gerfor had seen Sarriya enter and had followed her in seconds later. Needless to say he unleashed his full fury upon The Ripper. Although unfortunately, he was unarmed and while he put up a solid fight against his foe. He ultimately fell to his younger, faster, armed opponent. Thus concluding his story, but not his legacy as Sarriya had escaped and lived to tell the tale.
