Taronthor is a man of the Westfold.  Born in the Hornburg, and raised within the fortress of Rohan.  His youth was one of joy, yet challenging, as it was for those of the Helmingas.  His father was one the Westfold Red Shields, riding alongside the famed Erkenbrand.  He began his training at a young age, becoming a master with the spear and javelin.  As the years went on, He assumed a position serving under Grimbold of Grimslade, another famed captain among the Rohirrim.  As the years went on, his service proved most helpful to the defense of the Westfold.  Raiding parties of Dunland had been thwarted by his efforts, and the Trolls of the Limlight Gorge have felt his sting.  Taronthor is a stern man, when need be, but he is kind of heart.  He is ambitous, but not so that his judgment is clouded.  Through many accomplishments, he has never asked for recognition.  All he does, he does for the love of his home.

Nearing his 31st year, Taronthor was granted with the defense of Helms deep, becoming the Warden of the Hornburg.  Alongside the special forces of Rohan, such as The Royal, Guard, the Sons of Eorl, and The Red shields, Taron commands a unit known as the Veterans of the Westfold.  A unit the dwells within the Hornburg and, at times, patrols the Westfold.  Within the unit, they hold a smaller unit called "The Outriders."  These men are led by the brothers Fainbor and Hrolfing, and are tasked with scouting missions throughout Dunland as well as the lands of Eriador.
