First born to Bethilda and Marelus Woodbaker, Darienn was always the ideal child. When Jasine was born, he doted on her like a perfect older brother, helping her learn to speak and walk. When Darienn turned 8, however, their family home was attacked by brigands. Darienn recalls his father reaching for his sword, but before he could draw his blade, a brigand stabbed him in the torso. His last dying wish was that Darienn would look after his younger sister. The two grew up hand-in-hand until their mother grew ill. Jasine, who had always been a wild child, left Darienn to tend to their mother. He rarely left her side, caring for her every moment. When she finally succumbed to her illness, Darienn finally felt free to learn about the town he had been sheltered from his whole life. One of his first actions, after locating Jasine, was to join the Watch and defend those who could not defend themselves.
