Archives of Tum Escal : T.A. T.M. Volume 690. Entry 750

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Official Document

We have no report of Lady Carnifinde’s progress since Aearlinn returned to Tum Escal, seven days ago. That naught of importance had transpired between Forlond and Mithlond is not unexpected.

Discernment

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

It is nigh time we ride down to Mithlond, to prepare for Lady Istarnie's voyage.

Curumaito plans to discuss preparing a gem elixir with Carnifinde later this day. He is unsure what is possible; what is safe. Even if he decides to go ahead, such things can take days. I cannot risk the Lady missing the ship. There is no assurance that particular gem will have the virtue to return her to health. Valinor remains her best hope, I deem.

Arrival in Celondim

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

We are suitably accommodated in Celondim. Whether our stay will be but a few days, or far longer, is yet to be decided.

My lady wife has seen to all provisions for our party and speaks, with Aearlinn, on our behalf to those who have closest connection with the sailing of the Grey Ships from Mithlond.

Now it falls to me to decide, though I shall take counsel from Gaerion, and from the Lady’s granddaughter.

Decisions.

What is best for the Lady? Without her being able to tell us, I must decide the path to take. Do I inquire after the next ship to sail, or do we return her to Tum Escal, and the Halls of the House? If Curumaito is correct we may just possibly see her recover. Yet we know there is healing in Aman.

Unexpected News

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary

Unexpected news arrived this morning.

Dire news!

Our Lady has suffered grievous harm, and even now is being brought back to us by Varyamo.

Unexpected? Every time she rides away, I look to my wife and she says ‘Never has Istarnie suffered more than scrapes and bruises. She will return.’

Such has been the truth of things over the Ages. But none of us here in Endore are indestructible. Even she.

Steward of the Halls.

She has been away since before the snows came. The year has turned now to bright warm days, even as the news from the East, such as it is, grows ever more grim.

I would that the Lady returned soon to us. But she is not one to be constrained by fear nor danger. She does as she wishes. It is not my place to do aught but advise her. Still do I, and others of her household, hope for her swift and safe return.
