Race/Ethnicity: Dunedain

Skin Tone: Caucasian

Height: 6'

Build: Athletic

Eyes:  Grey

Hair: Messy, shoulder-length dark brown hair (most of the time)

Tattoos, Piercings, Marks, Scars, etc.: A large number of scars on her body, too many to list. The most visible of them is the one on her forehead (which is often hidden by her hood) and when not wearing gloves, the scar on her left hand is visible as well.

Appearance: When fully hooded and clothed, it can be difficult to tell whether Ran is a man or woman. However, Estella would have been considered somewhat beautiful if not for the rugged clothes she wore. Although not traditional Ranger garb, it isn't any better. Estella appears to be around 18-20 years of age, but she is actually in her thirties. Shrouded by her hood, her beauty is almost hidden from the world. Everyone sees only the mysterious Ranger.

Weapons: Tirandune, a blade used by Arvedui in his final days, as well as a yew bow (sometimes replaced by a crossbow) and an Elven dagger gifted to her by Calenglad. She also carries a compliment of throwing knives.

Religion:  One of the Faithful

Education: Well-taught in the ways of the wild and in swordplay and the use of bows. However, she has little education on things such as social interactions.

Languages spoken: Westron, Black Speech of Mordor, some Sindarin

Special Abilities/Skills: Her main and most notable ability is her skill with a bow and a blade. She is also an expert of the wilderness, being able to live on her own in the wild, as well as being a good hunter and tracker.

Serious Problems/Flaws/Addictions/Disorders/Disabilities: Although a master of the wild, she is awkward in social situations and in populated areas such as cities or villages.

She also has a lone-wolf personality and sometimes attempts to complete many dangerous tasks alone. This has landed her into trouble more than once.

Background

Raised by Saeradan, a respected Ranger in Bree-Land, Estella never knew who her biological father was. Due to the fact that Saeradan could not have a son himself, he treated Estella like a son, teaching her the ways of the wild and training her to be a Ranger.

She was never treated as a lady. Ever since she was young, she was sent to hunt boars and elk, and, as she grew older, Orcs and goblins. Soon, she became just as proficient with bow and sword as most other Rangers, and helped her father defend Bree from danger.

When she reached the age of twenty, she decided that she had to find out who her real parents were. Much transpired on her adventures, and she became known most widely as Ran to the people of Eriador, derived from her nickname of Rangress. However, although she encountered numerous Rangers, she failed to find any who knew of her heritage.

Estella befriended the Ranger Calenglad on her travels and returned to him. For over ten years, she served under his command as one of the Wardens of Annuminas, defending the tombs of the kings of old. During this time, her adventurous personality faded for reasons known only to few, and she became the grim woman she is today.

Eventually, her work brought her to Forochel, where she discovered a broken blade frozen in the ice bay. It was an ancient sword of Numenorean make, one used by Arvedui in his final days. She brought the sword to Rivendell, where it was reforged and entrusted to her by the Elves. However, Estella does not believe that she is worthy of the blade.
