ORIGIN

Khimir has spend 75 winters in the Halls of Erebor where he was born and raised. His father, Magrûn II (meaning bear-man) and mother, Baraz (short from barazamrâl'aban meaning ruby) both descend from the Longbeards of the Iron Hills that helped rebuild the Halls of Erebor after the Battle of the Five Armies.

APPEARANCE

Khimir, like most of his kin, is a sturdy Dwarf. Broad in the shoulders and a tad on the wideside around the waist. His hair and beard have the dark brown-reddish colour of black Oaks and is quite unruly hence he wears it in thick knotted braids decorated with a few Dwarven runerings depicting small versions of the Oakenbraids crest. His eyes are dark, allmost black, brown like his father's. A small scarr splits his right eyebrow. Deep concentration wrinkles cover his forehead and the first signs of age can be seen around his eyes. Allthough his skin originally is creamy white, spending time travelling and exploring clearly has done him good.

Khimir wears his favoured Dwarfcrafted armour which exist out of several layers of scalemail and tough leather. Dwarfcrafted heavy plated shoulder pieces and gloves provide additional protection. Khimir never got used to wearing the heavy Dwarven boots hence he opted for a pair of subtle and warm leather boots. At times he might be seen wearing his old cartographers backpack which is stuffed with inks, scrolls of parchment, quills and old notebooks.

AXES OF MAGRÛN II

Khimir's weapons of choice are two single handed Dwarven axes, crafted by his father, Magrûn II, and given to him on his day of departure from Erebor.

The Axes are crafted from tempered Dwarfen steel. The bronze Runerings keeping the blade in place are molded in place. The bronze pummel and the saveguard above the handle can be slided off to maintain or replace the leather wrapping made from the hide of Cold-Dragons. The shaft of the axes are covered with a fine filigrain inlay.

FAMILY CREST

The Oakenbraids family crest, allthough simple in it's design, represents that what it depicts: A braided black Oak. The origin of the crest is still unknown since many of the family records where lost during the ages. The Oak itself representing both the strong family line with firm roots in rocky soil and the shared haircolour of the family (a very dark brown with a reddish hue) The crest is mostly used on jewelry such as runerings in their braided and knotted beards and hair.

CHARACTERISTICS

Khimir is a friendly and outspoken Dwarf when you get to know him. He is an open minded character (a virtue from of his mother's side of the family) which sometimes doesn't work to well with his curiosity and eagerness to explore and investigate. Due to his open mindness he has a great interest in other cultures and their lore, holding no grudges towards other races, not even the Elves, of whom he admires their fine artwork and smithing abilities.

The greater love for runecarving, gemcutting and designing and creating jewelry derives from his father's side of the family. While growing up, Khimir spend quite some time with his father at the forges learning about the oddities of many precious metals and ores. From designing jewelry grew Khirim's love to create other things when putting quill to parchment. While out in the wilderness he enjoys spending time drawing maps and portraits.

Khimir holds his friends close to his heart and enjoys spending time with them while getting acquainted with new folks. He is fond of music, pipeweed and, occasionally, a dance or two. He greatly enjoys the feasts of Dwarves, roasted lamb seasoned with thyme, peppers, salt and rosemary being his favorite. Honeymead is his favorite beverage but he appears not be that fond of consuming great amounts of ale or mead (allthough he never told anyone why).
