"Am I...blind?" 

She knew she was opening and closing her eyes, but she could see nothing. No light. The ground was hard and chilled her aching body. She could hear nothing. Perhaps it was a dream. After all, she could remember nothing of how she came to be here, laying on what she assumed to be stone. 

Desiare crawled along the confines of the cage where she had been forcibly thrown, as she looked for a way out. Muttering oaths to herself, she shook against the bars of the cage, and found them to be sturdy. Her only gains from kicking the edge of the cage was a sharp pain in her foot and snickers from the two guards nearby.  

In the aftermath of anything, healing and reconciliation are ultimate aspirations.
